Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Panting?

Hi All
Can anyone give us any advice.  My brothers friend has decided to breed her dog....The stud dogs owner is her mentor but is on holiday so my brother has called me for advice?????

She says the bitch will be 25 days today and is panting alot.  She has another dog same breed whos coat isnt as thick but that 1 isnt panting.  She says she is eating fine bit restless following her around and just seems uncomfortable and panty???.  I think it is probably just humid,  told her to take temperature but she says she wont keep still enough for her to do it (she is in a wheelchair)?  My thoughts are its humid and her body is changing or worse case an infection.

So i'm one extreme to the other, I have only bred twice in a 7 year span so i am definately no expert and that is why i would appreicate your opinion.

If there is any doubt then i'd be popping her to the vets for a once over (i'd rather waste the money now too than end up with an out of hours fee) only she will know if this is normal for the bitch, if its not then vets for her.

i agree with claire here ,its better to waste money then to worrying yourself sick it could very well be the weather but it could be an infection too so tell them to be safe and take there girl to the vets i would! :) x

Hi I told her to take her to see the vet.  So she had an appointment this morning but has called to say she is back to normal so she called the vet as its difficult t get the dogs there and he recommended just to keep an eye on her.  I think she is daft for £20 for a check up and peace of mind, but no telling some I don't know why she called for advice really :(  But fingers crossed for the poor bitch if she isnt panting and back to normal i doubt (but you never know) its not infection and probably is just the weather and uncomfortable.  Thanks both for your advice.

I have to agree with the others she needs a hands on check by the vet to rule out any complications and give treatment if needs be.

If she is having problems now attending a vet appointment how is she going to manage if an emergency arises during the whelping or afterwards with the pups.
