Hi everyone,
I have noticed that when teaching my pup that her biting is too hard she bites her legs almost straight away. Has enyone else noticed this? I think it could be that she is testing her bite out on herself?

My pup doesn't really do much biting, which I am suprised about, however when she does on me it HURTS and she knows it too with my voice, all she does is release turn about and jump on my other dog and bite him instead, lol.. Never seen her bite herself, that is an interesting concept..

never seen it before ...be careful you are not being too firm some dogs chew thier legs and feet when stressed. Probably just a coincidence try diverting her attention to a toy.

Not seen that before either but mine have never been much for biting humans when playing, I would give her a rope toy as a diversion to get her out of the habit of biting herself.
Someone mentioned not giving the pup squeaky toys at this age because they expect the same reaction what ever they bite on, I had never thought of this before.

Common young boxer play I found. They get their leg from hock to back foot and chew it just like a 'bone'...they soon stop and is just a silly distraction thing.
Yes George used to do this, infact he still does if he gets really giddy. I had never really thought about it or noticed it before!

my 14 week pup does this when shes in a real bitey mood or if she gets really giddy, sometimes she'll bite her leg then chase her tail and start biting her tail!!! she doesnt leave any marks on herself tho so i tend to either leave her to it or give her a toy, sometimes she'll carry on or she'll bite her toys instead
