Hello,
I am looking for the regulation/s re dog bites at shows, human and also other dogs. Would somebody be kind enough to point me in the right direction please?
Thanks,
Jeff.
Hi Jeff,
Just had a look and all it says is Dogs must be on leads and under full control when on a KC licence premisis.
Any dog bite should be reported to the show secretary , so that i can the be reported with witness statments to the KC.

Hi Jeff, i have been looking through the infamous red book and under disqualification of dogs
A dog shall be disqualified and removed from the show if it is:
a, a bitch which is in season
b, suffering from any infectious or contagious disease
c, interfering witht he saftey or chance of winning of an opponent
d, OF SUCH TEMPREMENT OR IS SO MUCH OUT OF HAND AS TO BE A DANGER TO TEH SAFTEY OF ANY PERSON OR OTHER ANIMAL
e, likey to cause suffering to the dog if it continues competing
Sorry Jeff this is all i can find

Thanks guys, I don't know for sure but if memory serves complaints must be lodged on the day?
Jeff.
I think you are right, but not sure,
i am intreaged now and will study said book for more info,

Is this a current regulation? I didn't know that in-season bitches were banned; it must be the most ignored rule of all!

I think those are obedience show rules, rather than conformation.

No in season bitches are NOT banned from shows. Abraham has quoted the OBEDIENCE regulations, not the show regulations. He went a few pages too far in the book, I've just checked. :)

I thought there is a 7 day deadline to lodge a formal objection with the KC (plus £35 fee), or am I just confusing this with a different issue?
There is no fee for complaining about a dog bite , just spoke to KC

Lol sorry, for the mistake,
But i am very suprised that there is not a section on aggression/bites, or if there is it is very well hidden !!!
Is there a fee for complaning about regulation issues?

Is the only reason it applies to agilty is because the bitches are going to be off the lead plus other dogs as well ?
Doesn't a bitch in season that is being shown cause problems for dogs though ? It must put them off their stride and distract them when in the ring ?

Yes it does. That's why I never took my bitches to shows when they were in season; I thought it would be unfair to others when I only had bitches, and having since shown dogs as well it confirmed that view. It's the height of unsportingness (which should be a word if it isn't!).
Showing's only a hobby after all - it's not as if your life depends on attending every single show.

That is what I thought JG.

Here Here JG, some woman (to be polite) had a bitch 'playing' with my teenage boy large and very strong breed, just before he went in the ring. Now he can be headstrong in the ring at the best of times, but all he wanted to do was look for this bitch. When I came out she made some derogatory comment about my handling (more like dog wrestling) and informed me the bitch was in season!!!!!
And I too show both sexes, and never have or would take a bitch in season to a show.

Although I understand how disappointing it must be to have to withhold a bitch because she has come in to season and although some people manage to show an in-season bitch with minimal disturbance to other exhibits there are those who do not even try.
Had someone bench an in-season bitch next to my teenage male and he pulled the metal separation down on himself in a effort to get to her - he would never bench again and I had to show him only at open shows.
There are those who will also take an in-season bitch to open shows, remember going into the ring for Open Dog and seeing drips of amber coloured blood on the floor, the steward wiped it up but the critique made me laugh as first was awarded to the dog who coped best with the situation.
