Xena has been doing this for a long time now... I keep them short so not long or irritating her. I have checked them all regularly and there is nothing strange about them, no pad sores etc or infections.... It is mainly her back ones, she pulls her back leg between her 2 front and chews at them individually and it makes a very loud noise, annoys my husband imensely lol. Does anybody elses pooch do this or any other strange behaviours?

It might be worth checking her anal glands-you never know.I heard of a dog that did this because his anal glands were full and bothering him,his glands were emptied and he immediately left his nails alone.

One of my girls does this...nothing wrong with her glands either...she just likes to keep herself spick & span

No,I don't think there were any other signs-he was very fat though so maybe did it just because he couldn't reach his bottom!

lol she is far from fat she is average weight a nice 30kg and well muscled which I think is about average for a dobe! She can defo reach her bottom and to be honest very rare to ever see her lick it Eughhh

maybe thats it Lexy likes to stay clean as I do like them to have clean feet when they have been muddy always wash them off so maybe I overdone it when she was younger and is now obsessed with it ;-)

Seen it in lots of dogs. Self manicure!! What's wrong with that? But as said get anal glands checked out just in case. A friends dog did it for years never hurt himself but only on his front paws, sounded terrible!!! But he was happy!
