I had a friend phone me the other day asking questions about tests that should been carried out on Labs before breeing from them, so i told her that they should be hip scored, eye tested and some breeders now test for OCD. She then asked me how much do you normal pay for a puppy, I said £300-£350 for a pet which is what she wants. She then told me she had phone a breeder and that the mum had been hip scored, eye tested and OCD scored, but the sire was only 18 months old and had no tests done, when she asked why she was told , that they did'nt want to risk putting him under the anaesthetic if he could not produce puppies, she was also told the he would have to go under anesthetic for the eye test, which i told her was wrong, and that drops are put in the dogs eyes, also the breeder told her that the sire could'nt br hip scored until he was 2 years old, to which i said that was wrong, but when she asked how much the puppy was the breeder told her £550.00.
I have now given her the name and phone no of a good breeder.
