Hi, Just read a post regarding another topic but it stated cost of pet passport as £350?......is that about right?
I will be getting my boy one soon and to be honest did not think to much about cost as I thought it only entails a rabies shot and follow up blood tests......never considered it could be as high as that.......your feedback would be great please......

I paid abut £130 at the beginning of this year -but it can vary from vet to vet, like everything else. Just give yours a call and ask. :)

Well now (from Jan 1 2012) it's 'just' the rabies shot - so ring around!  There's a booklet too, but that'll be it now, no tests etc.  When I went for Jive I gave the vets about E60 for rabies jab plus worming and flea treatment so it won't be much different here I wouldn't have thought.

Is it going to be needed after January 1st?

You'll still need a passport, just won't need the blood tests and the 6 months wait. Last I heard they were still debating re. worming and tick treatment.

That will have been me Kimbo.  I put Pet Passport costs.

Will explain. 

My bitch had two Rabies vaccinations a month apart (£25.25 each) to be extra sure that titre levels would hopefully be high enough more than 120 days after the second vaccination when blood woudl be drawn for testing (reason for doing titre test so much later was I wanted her passport to be valid for some of the Scandinavian countries that required a longer time between Vaccs and blood test). 

It was then £150 for the blood test and sedation to take the blood (I did not want her shaved, and they could not get her to keep still enough to take blood from the neck otherwise).

I then had to pay £57 for the vet check prior to flying, and equivalent of £54 to have the tick and tapeworm stamps by the US vet (I provided my own tapeworm and tick meds, forget how much they were), and Oh I forgot the Vet charged me £50 for the actual Pet Passport and filling it in.

So actually over £350 in the context I used.

they have announced that Tape worm treatmwent will be needed between 24 hours and 5 days before entry to UK, Ireland, Malta, and one or two others I think.
