Topic Dog Boards / Health / Can someone help me with Panacur doseage please.

I'm going to order some Panacur to worm for lungworm. Is it correct that I can use the Panacur 10% for sheep/cattle/horses instead of the dog one.

The problem I have is that although I was planning to worm for lungworm, I have just found a roundworm in one of my dogs poo!

Looking at the doseage they are completely different for different aspects of worming. I'm wondering if anyone could help sort out what doseage my lot will need. I have a demanding toddler and am absolutely shattered as I'm pregnant again and no matter how hard I try my brain just can't figure out what I'm supposed to do.

My dogs weights are... 68kg,  58kg,  and 38kg.

Thankyou from a very mushed brain!

The period of worming for lungworm is longer so half the adult dose to that in normal 1 diose worming is given daily.

This will also deal with the roundworms.

So each day over a week you will be giving the dogs 34ml, 29ml, and 19ml respectively.

Dosage here: http://www.hyperdrug.co.uk/Panacur-10-100ml-for-dogs-cats-puppies-kittens/productinfo/PANL1/
"For the control of lungworm Oslerus (Filaroides) osleri in dogs administer 1 ml Panacur 10% Liquid per 2 kg bodyweight for 7 consecutive days"

Yes you can give the 10% for sheep/cattle/horses it's the same stuff.

The dosage for lungworm and roundworm is different.  Lungworm is about half the dosage, over 7 days.  Roundworm is a higher dosage as a one-off amount.

I'm not sure (and haven't been able to find out) if the 7 day course for lungworm will also kill roundworm.  No one seemed to be able to tell me that for sure, just their 'best guess'.  If you want to be ultra sure, I'd treat for lungworm for 7 days, then wait a week and give a separate one-off roundworm dosage.

Brainless is right for lungworm, you halve your dog's weight and give that in mls per day.  So a 68kg dog would have 34ml of Panacur each day.

Thanks guys. I didn't know what to do because the lungworm dose is half the amount for 7 days but I'm panicking coz Ive found a roundworm. Morning sickness and finding a worm in my dogs poo did not make a good combination!!

The contraindications say that it is extremely hard to overdose on Panacur so I was wondering what people thought about giving the full roundworm dose on day 1 and then giving the lungworm dose for the remaining 6 days thereby worming for both at the same time.

It should do as a half dose daily over three days will do it for puppies, (1/4 dose daily for prolonged period does it for pregnant bitches) and they are the major Carriers of roundworm.
