Topic Dog Boards / Health / Confusing season/phantom

A friend's young bitch is confusing us well and truly at the moment, and any input/ideas would be very much welcomed!
She is 10 months old, had her first season back in april at 7 months old, but has just come back into season 3 months later. My initial thought was that it was a split season. I know 12 weeks is a long time in between, and the other possibility is that she is just going to be very awkward and have 3 month seasons (really hope not). This is all fairly understandable (all be it a pain in the...)
However, things get more complicated when you consider the fact that she is very heavy with milk and having a phantom after her april season.
The season appears perfectly normal, the split or short cycle I could understand.......but with a phantom at the same time?
Any suggestions?

Thanks

My weimaraner did similar. seasons 3 months apart with false pregnancy thrown in (although thankfully not as far as producing milk)  we had her spayed 7 weeks after the third season- younger then I'd have wanted to but couldn't let her carry on like that

I have had young bitches come in season at 3 or 4 monthly intervals and after a couple sort themselves out, so if the bitch is required as part of a breedign program I would hold fire.

I have never had obvious phantoms with any of mine (beyond the usual slightly swollen rear glands.
