I have a pair of glasses which I have been avoiding wearing. It now seems I really do need to start but they are annoying. While they do improve my vision they also seem to make my eyes sore. The reason I haven't been wearing them unless really necessary is I guess I've never been used to it.

How long does it take to adjust.....do they really make your eyes sore or is it just they are acutally having to work properly and like any muscle can be a bit unfit? :-)

I don't think I look too bad in them so that is not a factor....just it seems weird..lol

Thanks
J

If your eyes are hurting I would go back to the optician and ask for a retest, they could be wrong. Its not unknown for the wrong lenses to be put in, or to be put in the wrong side :-(

I've worn glasses all my life so can't really answer you I'm afraid. I tend to get headaches if I get eye strain though. Not sore eyes.

I found it took me months to get used to them but sore eyes is an odd one. Eye strain and sort of headachy and tired yes but not really sore as in you have hay fever or something.
The reason it took me so long and actually I am still not really comfortable is because I wear contacts as well so swap backwards and forwards. So the glasses dont really become part of me
I still tend to take mine off to talk to people ! I know its daft but I become aware of my glasses and  then cant concentrate.
I would have another word with the optician.

Also make sure the glasses are fitting your face properly, there's nothing worse than specs that don't fit right, the optician should do this for you.

I'm convinced I can't hear right if I don't have my glasses on lol.

Maybe they need adjusting on the "fitting" side. If they are varifocals good fitting is essential. I have varifocals and if one side is not fitting snugly on the ear,my eyes become extremely uncomfortable until adjusted at the opticians. You really must go back and have them checked. I had aproblem with my first pair of varifocals and my eyes were re-tested and a new pair were made. Made a huge difference and they didn't want the original pair back which had cost £290!
I had a scottish friend who would use the word "sore" to describe something for which we would use the word "painful". Just wondered whether perhaps you are from north of the border and your eyes are what I would describe as painful. Mine were with the wrong prescription - felt as they they were being pulled.
Hope you do go back and get everything checked again.

LOL, doesn't everyone say sore ?....or to be more accurate " right sair " lol.

I had problems with my last prescription :(   Varifocals,  I couldn't focus, and the reading glasses made my eyes hurt so much they were running with tears - I also couldn't read with them :(

I've worn glasses for years so took them back and had a retest.   Turned out, they had changed the type of lens used and it just wasn't good enough (so they said)  so they had to go back to the more expensive one for me.   Still not 100% with my glasses and often use my last ones :(

If your eyes are sore even when not using them get them checked, something could be going amiss with your eyes ;)
