Hi all , I am feeling a bit adventurous so i have decided to make some liver cake for my dog. I have all the ingrediants but the reciepe i have doesnt say if i should cook the liver first or just blend the liver as it is with the garlic and so on ?
lol do you think i should cut the liver down then into smaller pieces to try making it easier to blend ? haha i can see this going badly wrong hahaha x
I think it will be fine - just a bit messy :) Every time I make liver cake I end up thinking if I had a dishwasher, I'd happily make it once a week rather than once every few months. At least I have a 'little helper' who will gladly give the blender bowl (blades removed!) and mixing bowl a good pre-wash :)
I just chuck the whole lot with raw liver in the blender and whizz it up and if it is a bit too heavy a drop in a little dash of milk or water. Then I pour it into the baking tin lined with baking paper, scrape as much in as possible with a spoon, and pop it in the oven for about half an hour at 200 degrees. I soak the blender in hot water and washing up liquid for a bit before scraping the rest into the bin/draining away. Easy peasy :-) Have fun with the result!
all you lucky guys with the blenders--I use a mezzaluna and it's very messy indeed. On the plus side the dogs love to watch and wait for anything to drop off the counter.
I experimented on them last week with blueberry pancakes (the hefty sort of American silver dollar kind)--now they really WILL work for some of that. Just trying to think how to take some along for our next show without rendering my pockets a disaster area.
i have always found raw liver harder to blend down (might be my blender) so i lightly fry it in a dry pan just untill its starts to colour then stick it in the blender and it works fine, mine still love their liver cake and once a month a bake a huge batch for a couple of friends as well.
