Right I'm lay in bed right now using my iPhone and my hubby's snoring is enough to wake the dead so fire away with the snoring cures please before I lose my sanity. One thing I cant use is earplugs as I need to be able to listen out for kiddies :)

1. Spare room
2. Divorce
3. Murder
4. Breathe right strips

My dad snores really loudly, he can be heard from many rooms away, the funny thing is though that he wears ear plugs because he claims my poor step mum
breathes too loudly at night!
This is going to sounds really weird but i dont mind my oh snoring but for a different reason, he suffers from sleep apnea and will oftern fall asleep without his machine on but i know as long as he is snoring and i can hear him he is still breathing, but it is rather loud when he does start usually a quick poke in the ribs and tell him to put his machine on and then we have a peacefull nights sleep

i would have him checked for sleep apnoea as if he has it, the machine masks the snoring
i wouldnt rule out ear plugs, you can still hear baby cry/dog bark/smoke alarm with them in but it cuts out 50% or so of the snoring

Try telling my oh about sleep apnoea ! he definitely stops breathing I have looked into it and am sure he would be diagnosed but unfortunaetly is doctor apparent said not a good idea as you may lose you driving license which i know is not true as friends husband has it and still has his. Makes me very cross.
I gave up trying in the end to get him to do something and just moved to the spare room

furriefriends, see another gp and get refered to the sleep apnoea nurse at your nearest hosp. you DONT lose your licence! sleep apnoea can be very dangerous if untreated

totally agree but you can take a horse to water etc he doesnt want to know I wasnt best pleased with the doctor either. I got paperwork from the sleep apnoea association and he still doesnt want to investigte it.
> not a good idea as you may lose you driving license
You do have to be a little careful if your OH is a professional driver? From the moment your doc thinks you might have sleep apnoea to you are either proven not to have it or are given the machine to use you should not drive a bus for example. I work for a large local bus operator and we put drivers on other duties while it is being investigated, this can sometimes be several months. You keep your licence but for safety reasons you shouldn't drive until the sleep apnoea is being controlled properly.

Yes that's right and it happened to my bus driver friend but oh needs his car for getting to and from work etc but isn't a professional driver so only has an ordinary licence. Very stubborn man he does things his own way

It depends upon how serious the sleep apnoea is. If it is causing him to fall asleep during the day due to him not sleeping properly during the night then yes driving licence would be suspended, but i it's just a case of him snoring and having slight sleep apnoea with no after effects during the day then he will be fine.
Many NHS hospitals now will not deal with just simple snorers, they will only be seen if they suffer with sleep apnoea also. Best thing also to do is getting the mandibular advancement device via your dentist as the ones via the web are not made for that persons mouth, so would be better via the dentist who will make a mould.
