hi, i have a border collie pup and the vet has given me milbemax to worm her with, she seems fine but i have read that milbemax should not be used with bc's!!! any border collie pro's out there who have any advice!!! thanks

Many border collies and related breeds have a dangerous inherited sensitivity to Ivermectin, and milbemax is a derivative so should not be given to these breeds unless they have been DNA tested and found
not to have this genetic issue.
As an owner of BCs I wouldn't touch Milbemax with a barge pole! Drontal and Panacur are perfectly good wormers. Unless you have your BC DNA tested for the MDR-1 gene then you wont know if it's going to be sensitive to this and a number of other drugs. My boys and girls get Drontal.

ok thanks for that, im supposed to give her another tablet on saterday so ill ring the vet tomorrow and get something else! i take it its ok to just change the wormer staright away? thanks

Sadly some vets seem unaware or forget that collies may be sensitive to this drug.
Yes it's fine to use something else for the next worming.
