Topic Dog Boards / Showing / the world's smallest ever reason to brag...
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 16.05.11 10:41 UTC
We are still pretty new to showing and fell into it almost accidentally by way of qualifying for Crufts. Since then we've gone to ringcraft, I've learned more, we've had some good days out without distinguishing ourselves particularly (and a lot more YouTube type faux pas on my part). I never thought I would be hearing myself say this, but....we went BIS at Pudsey Limit Show yesterday with Bean under David Cavill...cloud 11!

YAY!  Congratulations to you and Bean.  Definitely well-deserved in my opinion :-)
- By Goldmali Date 16.05.11 10:45 UTC
That is SO not a small reason!! WELL DONE!!!!!
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 16.05.11 10:49 UTC
Thanks Claire! He won his AVSNC postgrad (I thought they were announcing places in reverse order and was really pleased to make the cut, never mind win), and was still in shock when it was suggested that we might want to get in the ring for BIS...hope to catch up with you and your boys soon :)

thank you Marianne, everyone in my family and most of my friends think I'm mad for going to shows (favourite quote from my mother whom I love dearly: "Why can't you just let them be dogs?") :) :) :)

I'm with Marianne, thats not a small reason to brag :-)

Very well done :-)

- By kayc [gb] Date 16.05.11 12:09 UTC
Since when was a BIS a small brag lol... Shout, sing and dance brag.. Well done :)
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 16.05.11 12:41 UTC
Do you think his breeder might like to know (bearing in mind that without naming names he is extremely well known, and has just made up my dog's litter brother and two full sisters from an earlier mating)? I'm just conscious of some possible bathos here and don't want to embarrass anybody :) I do enough of that already
- By kayc [gb] Date 16.05.11 13:06 UTC
Of course let your breeder know.. I am sure they will be absolutely delighted for you :-)

I love getting messages about how my pups are doing... :-)
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 16.05.11 13:16 UTC
Yes his breeder will be thrilled I'm sure - I certainly would be!! Well done you!!!
- By CVL Date 16.05.11 13:35 UTC
Hehehe I let Kay know every little placing Melvin gets... I even emailed her from a champ show to brag about a VHC :-)  You could always send a photo, and a little general update too.  I'm sure the vast majority of breeders, however successful they are, like to know how their pups are doing (I'd like to think so anyway...)

Very well done, gosh yes tell his breeder, I'm sure they'll be delighted.  I love to know how all my babies are getting on.
- By collie mad [gb] Date 16.05.11 15:13 UTC
Well done and all the very best for the future.

Huge well done and absolutely let the breeder know!
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 16.05.11 16:14 UTC
thank you so much EVERYONE for all your kind thoughts and advice here! It's hard for me to get this in perspective--still feeling like a newbie...I will let his breeder know as you all suggest--I know if it was me I'd love to hear, but then my family claim I only switch on for dog news...
- By tooolz Date 16.05.11 16:33 UTC
Not even slightly small!!

For 'someone new to showing' I would call that pretty darned BIG...well done!!

Tell the breeder..we like to hear good stuff, we often get moaning when they dont win :(
- By Lacy Date 16.05.11 17:09 UTC
Well done, both of you. Hope Bean had nice tidy nails! Best wishes.
- By Harley Date 16.05.11 17:23 UTC
Huge congratulations :-) :-)
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 16.05.11 17:34 UTC
tooolz, I felt I was winning the day I brought that puppy home--he has been a beautiful little devil (and too clever by half) from the start :) and he knows it
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 16.05.11 17:37 UTC
Nails and dew claws neat and shiny, just the way they never look once he does his favourite thing off hopping for a lie down in the nearest mudhole...*SIGH*...he's a challenge :)
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 16.05.11 19:19 UTC
