i have a litter of 10,1 wk old puppies all doing well except 1 little boy.they were born last friday evening,we took mum & babies to the vet sat morning to check them all out he said they are all fine.i weighed them monday they averaged between 1 & 1.3 lbs ,this little boy was 1lb.ive been checking his weight but he hasnt gained any,he seems to be sucking but i dont know if he is drawing milk, there is milk in mums teats all the others have gained a couple or more ozs im starting to worry now,i am going to take him to the vet in the morning, but wondered has anyone out there had the same problem.can anyone put my mind at ease please

It might just be that because he is a little bit smaller the other pups are pushing him off the teats before he gets his fill, so id put him on first let him suckle his fill then put the others on. So long as he is happy within himself and with good litter management as you have a large litter he should be fine.

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY WE HAVE BEEN PUTTING HIM ON HER WHEN SHE IS IN THE BED ,WHEN THE OTHERS TRY TO KNOCK HIM OFF WE PUT HIM ON AGAIN WE ALSO TAKE 5 AWAY & PUT THEM IN A BOX IN THE BED SO THE OUTHERS TAKE IT IN TURN BUT THEY DO SEEM TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIM,HE SEEMS QUITE CONTENT AS THEY ALL DO BUT IT DOES MAKE YOU FEEL CONCERNED WHEN THIS HAPPENS,SHE HAD A LITTER OF12,2 YRS AGO WHICH ALL SURVIVED ,WE HAD TO ROTATE 6 AT A TIME THEN BUT THEY ALL SEEMED TO GAIN WEIGHT EVENLY EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A TINY THEN. BUT THIS 1 SEEMS TO BE LIGHTER ,ANYWAY I WILL GO TO THE VET IN THE MORNING BUT THANKYOU FOR PUTTING MY MIND AT EASE FOR THE MOMENT
