An article reported in Our Dogs this week of at least 7 dogs that had been walked on the Hednesbury Hills near Cannock in Staffordshire have died. The Cannock Chase District Council denies the fact that they had recently sprayed the area was in any way connected with the deaths.
I am interested in further information/update on this. If anyone on this board lives in the area or has further knowledge can they please add to this thread, thank-you.

Sad to hear about this. Are there any spills or puddles of (car) anti-freeze on the ground? It's extremely toxic. Even a tablespoon can kill a dog :( Unfortunately, it has a sweet aroma and taste, so animals and children are lured to it.
It's just an idea for possibilities.

My dad lives up that way so I'll ask him if he's heard anything - it'll probably have been in the local paper.

I live in the area and although i dont walk the dogs
in the woods I do know it is true
No one is accepting blame and no one knows whats causing it so at the moment its a no go area with dogs.
If anything comes up in our local papers i will be hot on the press for you :-)

My parents live in Stone and hadn't seen anything in the paper about it so he asked at their vets. He was told in no uncertain terms that it's not worth the risk of walking your dog there.

There's been loads of rumours about what's going on but as you say, no-ones admitted anything..

Where abouts in Stone do they live ? I used to live just down the road in Weston. My mum worked in Stone for years.

Do you know the Cemetary on the edge of town towards Stafford? They live just behind there.

With the exception of my uncle all my mums family live in Stone - there's about 70 of them altogether including cousins!!!!

Yep my sister used to live just by there as well.

My sister's first husband was from Stone as well.

My mum used work at Reward Regional Surveys. They used to be above the hairdressers oposite the Crown Hotel. It then moved to the Industrial Estate across from where the cemetary was.

Wow - it really is a small world. My mum probably knows your sister and her ex husbands family, if mum doesn't one of her 'clan' will!!

Stone is so close knit that everyone seems to know everyone there!!
