I have a friend whose dog is on rimadyl for arthritis. He mentioned the other day that he d ran out,and so was giving the dog(a gsd)a codeine tablet a day, apparently he has them for pain relief himself.Im not sure if this is just a stopgap till he can get more rimadyl, but I suspect not,as he says the dog is better than before. Is this safe, does anyone know?

Have a read of this it may help. Dogs can have codine but would need a vet to work out dosage. It is an opiate and as such can supress respirations so it is vital he gets the dosage right.
