Doe anyone feed natural instinct it's supposed to be a 100% raw diet and reasonably priced one of my clients recommended it today and wondered
If anyone uses it or what your thought where?
- By furriefriends Date 12.04.11 22:34 UTC
I think it is very expensive my other problem with it is that any product that has been comercially altered is not imo as good as completly natural eg a chicken carcass. dogs ideally need to chew chunks of meat and bone
That being said if you are going raw and want something that reassure you to begin with it is all in one.
I do stree that this just my personal view

I'm new to raw and want something simple and easy till I get used to it and supplement when I can with bones etc. Is there any other cheaper food alternatives to this if u feel this is an expensive brand? Many thanks

sorry I havent used anything other than meat as it comes if you see what I mean. I just know I did a  price comparison and found it worked out far more expensive than I currently spend which is about 35 pound a month for one gsd and a pomx
I am sure others will have some ideas for you. I am afraid when I started i kind of jumped straight in giving him chicken wings followed by bigger bits then bought frozen chunks and mince varying the variety of meat  each time including some offal . I also added fish on occasion usually tinned sardine or mackeral. Now 3 years down the line I order inbulk every type of meat and bone I can get
It really is easy just decide on your amount to begin with if you look on the dog food company site they have some ratios and also do a search here some nice kind person has posted the info and take the plunge add more if you dog is hungry or looks abit under weight the reverse if he is a bit rounded just like you do for yourself. More bone if he is a bit loose more meat if he is a bit hard and dont for get things like heart an kidneys. dont overdo liver as some dogs get a bit loose with too much liver. green tripe is good to include too.
One more point I feed raw meaty bones not barf really which is slightly different as it includes carbs as well as meat.
if its barf you are doing I am sure someone will be along soon with more advice as not all of us are mad enough to be on the computer this late :)lol

Give it a try I am sure you and your dog wont regret it good luck

The service from NI is very good and they are always keen to help answer queries and deliver to your requirements.

I use it as part of my feeding regime, you only need surprisingly small amounts as otherwise they put weight on.

I tired it on my recent litter and they loved it to begin with, some of the pups are still fed on it, but the one I have kept has totally gone off it.

I bought a box of the minced chicken ( with veggies) and my dogs didnt like it. Very sloppy and incredibly RED for chicken meat.

It took me ages to hide it in other food to get rid of it.

I looked at NI but found it was very expensive but like you before starting raw I wanted the easy option to reassure me about ratios.  I now use rawtogo.  Lesley there is fantastic and is more than happy to offer advice plus their minces are on the 80/10/10 ratios plus they also sell chicken carcusses, necks etc.  My first month I just ordered the minces, the second month I was braver and ordered some of the bones as well and the dogs have thrived on it and I am very very pleased but have had none of the worry.  It costs me about £50 per month to feed three adult BCs

I feed mine on NI, I was scared of getting feeding raw wrong and although it's not cheap (but not bad either if you pick it up from the shop), Mine love it and are doing well on it. I just wished I had swapped before. I guess with being more confident I will try to give them more bone. Just find NI cheap enough and easy enough to feed mine.

:-)

I feed my dogs NI chicken carcasses but they don't like the minced food, they prefer NM for some reason
there is another company i saw at crufts called darlings http://www.darlingsrealdogfood.com/ which cater monthly for your dog, i found them a little expensive though :)

Have you tried K9 Natural? http://www.k9natural.com/ Had a sample of this and my dogs loved it- pretty pricey so I may buy it as a treat or buy it for when we go camping cause I no they will def eat it.

You're not kidding are you! £150 for 4kg (makes 15kg when reconstituted with water)! Very interesting though.
