Hi all

I have been showing my dog about a year now and she's done well. I recently did a show and got on the critique, "not the best mover". So can anyone suggest how we can improve this? Not sure if my own movement is affecting her as I dont have the best gait myself.

Thanks

Is this the first time her movement has been criticised? Dogs move differently on different surfaces, not all of them cope well with a polished floor for example and their movement can appear 'stilted'. This could well be what the judge saw on the day if it was a one-off critique.

It is difficult for us to comment as the judge maybe reffering to either of your dogs 3 angles of movement oncoming, side or going away. The best one to have asked would be the judge but like the previous postee said it may have been the floor surface so would not necessarily move the same again?? Get a few people who you trust to watch your dog & give a possible reason as to what they think it may have been.

I've not had movement mentioned before, apart from "a little close behind". I do wish Judges were a little more specific, so you could be sure of their intention. It was a hard concrete floor not slippery, the last time we were on this surface she went 1st place.

My hubbie just showed me the recording (I didnt realise he filmed it!) I think the ring size was a bit small so I  altered my speed to fit in the space (I'm 5' 10") and this didnt help, also she looked up at me some of the time which threw out her front legs.

I have a couple of experienced friends so I will ask advice from them too, let them see the recordings.

Thanks for replying
