Have just read a disturbing article in Dog World that Harrods is still persisting on selling puppies from its store. It is trying to justify this by saying that they do all the checks etc and interview prospective purchasers but does that make it right?
I certainly wouldn't sell my puppies to a shop even if it is Harrods. I was wondering what we can do about this bearing in mind and protest would be quite high profile. Maybe if everyone sent them a letter or e-mail http://www.harrods.com/contact_us.asp
They don't appear to have a general e-mail address but they do have a form to use. It may also be worth contacting the Kennel Club as it states in its code of ethics that 'Owners will not sell any dog to commercial dog wholesalers, retail pet dealers or directly or indirectly allow dogs to be given as a prize or donation in a competition of any kind' and Harrods pet department is a 'retail pet dealer' so that should cover it. Lets try to get the KC to actually act upon its own code of ethics!

I think this is digraceful, but I agree, it has been going on for years. I have even had "breeders" boasting to me that they have sold their puppies to Harrods - they are actually proud of the fact! I will e mail the Kennel Club about this and hope that everyone who reads this string will too, their contact address is on www.kennel-club.org/ I wonder if the puppy farmers know that Harrods sell their puppies for £699.99p? They are probably not even worth half that, poor little things.
