Hi im new to the site and need a bit of help please.
I have a 3 year old toy breed who is quite over weight she is fed on Royal Canine adult weight managment for small breeds.
She is fed one meal a day which i soak  as she has an undershot jaw and has trouble chewing the biscuit with a very small amount of webbox meat mixed in. She has lost a bit of weight from when she started this food but i need a bit of advice if this is a good diet food as she does enjoy it and its a small biscuit. Also id like some advice on amount of food to give her per day and if she should have 2 meals a day instead of 1. I do have other dogs of the same breed which also eat the same food but are not overweight.
I dont know if i can say the breed so if not admin please edit it she is a Chihuahua.

I have never found diet foods to be good for the dogs.

My breed gains weight easily, but if put on a diet food, coats and condition suffers.

I have found halving a good food and adding vegetables to bulk out and stave off hunger is the best way, and then be very strict in not allowing weight to go on.

My poor 7 year old bitch after her litter and spay last year is still a bit heavy for my liking despite having been on about 2/3rds her normal rations for about 6 months, so may have to cut back further..

I have never used diet foods but agree add some veg cooked if that is the only way she will eat them to a good complete. My chi x loves cooked veg but wont touch raw so gets our leftovers

I have the same breed as you, and have several spayed girls that need decreased food intake or they would be far too rotund.

Whenever a Chi pup leaves home, folk are always advised that they are reduced gradually from 4 meals  a day to 2 meals.  I would never risk hypoglycemia by letting a Chi go so long without food.  Even if those two meals a day are only 2 mouthfuls each!

I feed half wet, half dry, although I've never soaked RC for any of my adults.  Can I ask what quantities of food you are giving her?  How many grams of kibble and Webbox?
