Hi

We pick up our puppy tomorrow and 5  mins ago hubby says he doesn't like the name we had picked out for her (pet name). So its back to the drawing room on names and I dont have long - I like to have a name ready rather than have her and then decide a name.
Breeders affix is Boust, KC  name is Delaney (I was going to call her Dela), breeder is calling her Kirsty (after the nurse who resucitated the puppy)

She is a fawn bullmastiff.

Any suggestions will be considered because right now I just cant think of any names - may have to dig out my baby name book out to read!

Blimey I thought your last post said he was coming in a few weeks.  Did I miss something  ...like a month and a sex change??!!

Weren't you wanting a show pup?

When I was looking at names I used this baby name site quite a lot to check meanings.  Behind the name is a fun site too and has a random name generator.  Good luck with choosing :)

I got the dates wrong I thought she was 2 weeks younger than she is and was working on getting her at 10 weeks but we are getting her at 8 weeks (for various reasons too long to go into)
She was always a she though. Yes I did post about being interested in showing and wondering how to get into it but I am not sure I will follow that path as I doubt I have the confidence even if she was perfect for the ring (I have no idea if she is show quality)

I find that the name I start off with often doesnt suit their character. Living with them usually 'creates' a name automatically.

We had a kitten once which we instantly named Wanda but in all of her 16 years she never got called that... but Wickle !

me too,my 15year old cat was christened Smudge, and has been Chunk ever since!A long ago cat was given some name, and never got called it,he was nicknamed"purk"as that was the noise he made when he landed after jumping off something,I was embarrassed to admit his name at the vets and registered him as"perky"which sounded more normal! In factALL my animals (and kids)get nicknames! The poor dogs answer to both!

Well she is home and still no idea as to what to call her but she is  a complete little darling - or not so little!!

what about:
buff or buffy - as she is fawn
Delilah - you can shorten it to Della but your OH doesn't have to if he doesn't like it
kizzie - its a cute name and a contrast to the size of her and the perception of the breed
lola - same as above
Amber - kind of red/fawn type colour

I am rubbish at picking names, it takes me months to come up with names.

Sorry about the gender mix up - who on earth knows which bits I'd been reading :)

One of the places you could look is Rainbow Bridge (if you can bear to read the sad posts).  I've always thought it would be rather special to use a much loved dogs name - a privilege even.

There is a thread at the moment about an adored hen called Esme who sadly died recently.  I must confess to slipping that name into my mind for a future girl :)

Be careful of not naming - my mum had a dog called 'Puppy' who lived to 16, all because she and my dad couldn't agree on a name!

Its the whole ending up calling her Puppy her whole life that I was worried about.

I love Esme but as my last dog was Kesmai (rhymes with Esme) its just too close :(

We did alot of thinking last night and have come up with a name our new puppy is Tilly after the Matilda Tank as at the moment she just tends to walk over anything in her wany or try to shoulder it out of the way! Its not as original as Kesmai was but it suits her. Now to start training her to actually hink its her name.

Thank you all for your help.

I've got until the end of the week to think up name and KC name and its driving me potty as there is no theme!!! So trying to work on some linkage with the parents KC name or pet names.

Tilly is a lovely name... Enjoy her x

I look at the titles on TV programmes and add names I fancy to my list.

Yes the KC names can be a nightmare trying to find ones not used before, only been refused one and it was accepted when I swapped the words around.

Roxy
Kizzy

We had, many moons ago, a cross breed girl called Florence..friends of ours were in the RAF and got posted to Cyprus..my hubby hated the name and would only call her name through gritted teeth..she never came back when he called her;)
She had a party trick that she did with her sheepskin rug whenever we had visitors:)  Dirty girl.
Sadly she had to be pts as when I had my daughter she was insanely jealous and went for her face...we couldnt take the risk.
