I am getting my Bullmastiff puppy on Sunday. The breeder has her on Advanced Nutrition Puppy Food with Chicken Large Breed and then mixes in mince, egg, tuna etc etc.

With my last dog (cross breed) we fed wet food (butchers tripe mix was the only thing that didn't cause her to have a bad stomach) so I have no experience of this food and was wondering what people thought of it. If you dont like it what else would you suggest? I just dont have the space in my freezer to do bone/raw feeding as much as I would love to.

This appears to be a Pets at Home own brand puppy food but I couldn't get into more info to see the ingredients...

Ask the breeder what she likes about this food (hope it isn't just cost) and why she'd recommend it.  She should give you a small amount to bring home and it's generally perceived to be a good idea to stick with the breeders food for a few weeks whilst the pup settles, even if you might want to change it later.  I don't know this food but if it's not a good one then you could change it a bit faster if needs be by adding a small amount of a different puppy food from week 2, til you have swapped over competely.

If you can get a list of ingredients try comparing it to something like Arden Grange Puppy.  Don't be put off by price you can generally shop around for better AG prices online

Congrats on your puppy - you must be really excited :)  Did you get a crate yet?

We have a medium size crate given to us by my sister in law which we will use to transport her and until she needs a big one (should give us some time to save up the money to get a really good quality XXL one rather than something cheap and cheerful.

I spoke to the breeder after posting the original post and she was on a Burns food but as she was havingto order it and get it delivered they swapped to Pets at Home brand as they thought the new puppy owners whould find it easier to get hold of. She will be giving us a weeks worth of food to take with us so we can either keep her on that as we have a Pets at Home near us or swap to someting that other people reccomend. The only thng that had me worried was the fact that my last dog didn't tollerate dry food well so I automatically equalte dry food with stomach upsets and lots of clean up! I know this dog will be different but its just getting that fixed in my head!

I am actually really nervous about getting this puppy - its been so long since I had a puppy around the place I am used to a older dog! I will be ouse training the puppy and potty training my son at the same time so life will be wet and soggy for a while!! Hubby keeps laughing at me as I seem to be reacting to thng I think of as if I have never owned a dog before - lots of what ifs! If I am not worried about toilet training its sleeping arrangements, feeding, obediance/recall training etc etc he just oints out that our GSD X was one of the best trainged and well mannered dogs he has met but my nerves are still shot right now!!
