Out walking my 4yr old Cavalier and 10yr old JR this morning, when a lady stopped to fuss them..she mentioned that she had a 16yr old Cavalier who was just starting to feel old!!
I told her that was a good age for a Cavalier and she agreed saying it was the second one she had owned and the first one died aged 15!!

Hope my 4yr old lives that long and is happy and healthy as hers must be:)

When my Rufus (who lived to 15 yrs 2 mths) was starting to get old my former vet was very fond of telling me of another Cavalier client of his that was 18. :)
Have you seen the golden oldie list on the breed club website? Top one at the moment is currently 18.9 years old!

In the list of past oldies (which my Rufus had to be transferred to) the oldest was 19.

My dog that just went to rainbow bridge lived until she was 13 - it still seems too short to me but she was happy her whole life so I guess it was ok.
My one cat is 21 years old soon to be 22 she is a Siamese. he likes sleeping alot but still keeps the other cat (8) in line and kept the dog in line too - I hope she will teach our new puppy some manners too.

How lovely! I lost my Henry far too young, he was only 8. But Ellie is now 6 and only looks about 3, so hopefully she will go on a while longer yet. :-)
