like millions of others i found this fascinating and now want to try it.

how do i get started, i just googled classes but none in my area. looked on ebay and found a couple of books, does anyone know if learning by book would be any good?

I think the Mary Ray books (Dancing with Dogs) or DVDs (An Evening with Mary Ray) are the better ones available, I prefer them to Richard Curtis' anyway. I think you can learn the basics about clicker training from books, and also look at videos on youtube, and from there experiment with teaching moves. To start off, spinning in a circle, going round you, or weaving through yours legs can be taught quite easily just by luring with a treat (or two, one in each hand, for leg weaving).

If you want to double check about training classes in your area, I would recommend contacting Canine Freestyle GB (http://www.caninefreestylegb.com/) to see if they know of anyone offering them.

Good luck! :)
