Oh no I think I have just broken the unbreakable -my Hetty vacuum cleaner. (The pink female version of Henry!) Does anyone know what I should do? I blame it on a Papillon! As I was vacuuming I saw that my male Papillon had peed by the couch -I have 3 bitches in season so he's not exactly behaving well. Grabbed a cloth and bent down to clean it up and at the same time accidentally dropped the vacuum hose -which landed inside the dogs' GIANT water bowl and instantly sucked up a lot of water! Needless to say the vacuum instantly died and I ran to unplug it in case it would blow up -electricity and water and all that.
To be mundane I would empty it, open it up as far as possible and leave it at least a week to dry, chances are that once dried it will work again but make sure it is dry before plugging it in.
I have no useful advice but it is a constant source of amusement to me that 3 of my dogs are named for vaccum cleaners, albeit unintentionally - I had my Henry, and I still have Hetty and George. Now if only there was an Ellie vaccum.... :-p
omg RIP Hetty Pssst in a Brian Connely sort of way ' It's only a vacuum cleaner' :-D Says me who talks to my Henry and treats him like one of the family !!

Cheers everyone. Have let OH take Hetty apart and leave her to dry for a LONG time and will point out about the fuse! Meanwhile will have to bring Henry out of retirement from the garage.
Yes, should have mentioned the fuse, that should have blown and saved Hetty from any damage - water in its self should not cause any damage providing the initial shorting caused by the water blew the fuse and not Hetty's wiring.
