I booked some advanced train tickets to make a return journey but due to the person I was going to se messing me about I am no longer going. I just tried to cancel them but apparently I am not able to do this? The person on the end of the phone was difficult to understand and no help at all. Does anyone know if train tickets should be refundable? I don't really want to waste £55 on nothing.

I don't think advance fares are refundable, unfortunately, but you can exchange them for another journey (for an admin fee).  There's some information here:

How about changing the destination and treating yourself to a day out somewhere rather than just losing the money?

or sell them to someone at a loss....

probably not an option as it was a very long journey with a short stop and then return. I tried to swap them for a ticket to Crufts to save driving but found out I can only  alter the times or dates of the original journey but can't change stations.
The only way I can see they would be of use to anyone is because the journey goes through London so if there is anyone who wants to leave Crewe at 6:00 am get to London about 8:00am then return to Crewe leaving London about 14:30 getting back to Crewe about 17:00 on April 02 drop me a mail. Alternatively if anyone has any suggestions about what I can do in London for a couple of hours let me know and I could take a trip down there.

Tried to swap for a ticket to Crufts but apparently I can't change the stations. Only the date or time of the original journey. :(

how much would a return ticket from london cost ...you could then spend the whole day in London have a good day then travel home later...

try reselling here ..http://buy.vivastreet.co.uk/travel-tickets/q/train or http://london.craigslist.co.uk/
