Does anyone know of a good water bowl suitable for a large breed that lying down drinking.  i have to keep the bowl topped up as she struggle to get down the bowl.  The trouble with her doing this is that she's constantly wet and dirty.  Not a problem ordinarily but she too old to keep being hauled in the bath or washed down.  She can't stand too long when still, doesn't stop her on the walk thought :)

I've ried a raised one which she would go near, did keep her dry though.  Are there any shaped ones or that might hep with water spillage.

Thanks.

What about a spaniel bowl (the ones that taper in to keep the ears out)?  I'm sure I've seen lower, wider ones for food rather than water that might be ok for a dog lying down.

Or, does she have to lie down?  Could somethineg in between a floor-bowl and a raised bowl help?  My lot got a new bowl yesterday - it's a 15L garden trug, about 12" tall so it's sensible standing height but not too high, and not so low they have to stretch to drink.

When my last dog was getting old and doddery, I put his water bowl (and food bowl) on the bottom step of the stairs.

Thanks for the replies, i have a search for a spaniel bowl, it might help.  trouble is she gets it all down her bib and front legs.

I've thought about different bowl heights to amke her stand, she stand ok for her tea.  i'll give it a go on the step for her.

How about raising the bowl on newspapers, easy to vary the height. Have been doing this for some time as it helps keep the dogs ears out of the water, did think of getting a stand but with papers it has better stability. Good luck.
