Had a nasty shock when I went down to Tesco's to replace an ink cartridge for my printer that is probabally 5 - 6 years old now and going strong.  Tesco's did their own version of the Epsom cartridge which was cheaper - now they don't do it.  The Epsom cartidges - if I replace all of them are going to cost £90 odd.  It is cheaper to buy a new printer.  What daylight robbery.  Looking on the Which site they are rather negative about buying cheap cartridges.  Any views please? I don't want to buy cheap cartridges and find that they don't work.

I used to own and Epson and bought cheaper alternatives, I don't use the printer that regularly, and it just seemed like whenever I went to use it I had to do a nozzle clean, and then they wouldn't register as having any ink in the cartridges. In the end it was cheaper to buy a new printer - we now have a Kodak

I have an EpsonDX4800 and usually buy from Tesco which have gone up about £10 in 12 months. I did buy 20!!! cheap ones from Ebay and found total waste of money. Colours would not print out and kept getting error messages saying they were no Epson cartridges.:-(

I have a new Epsom, and the compatible cartridges from Amazon are fine.  Used to buy them from Ink and Stuff with the old Epsom.

I wonder, is there some way one can inject the cheap ink into an old but 'kosher' cartridge- or would that be a waste of time, not to mention messy?

Never had a problem with Jet Tec but have with some of the cheaper compatible inks.

I used to do that until it broke my printer. Twice (as in two printers).

The joke of it now is, it's as cheap to buy a brand new printer which comes complete with two full cartridges, as to buy two replacement cartridges!

Kodak is advertising they have a printer for which the cartridges are cheaper, cost £20 to replace BOTH, have been wondering whether it's worth buying that one.

I've got a Samsung Laser printer (colour) it costs £200 for replacement toner...........so I also have an Epson Stylus Ink Jet printer, which costs £20 for all 4 cartridges.  Guess which one gets used the most....lol.

I buy cheap cartridges - it's an old printer anyway. Manufacturers cartridges are around £30  for colour and £20 for black and I got my replacements for £12 - three black cartridges which seem to work just as well as the normal ones. I used a place on the internet called Choice Stationery - the disadvantage is that I get lots of emails from them telling me all about their special offers which is annoying.

I have an Epson printer and bought the cheapy cartridges from Ebay.  Worked fine and I've printed photos and everything.  My aunt also has the same Epson and bought hers off Amazon and they worked fine too.

I use a company called premier ink and photography for ink cartridges, they are brilliant service.  I do print some of my own stuff for work, so it has to be good quality, and Epson printers are the best really.  I very nearly bought a giclee printer but chickened out as they cost a fortune to run, but thankfully have found someone who does it quite cheaply for me.  Unfortunately, the cost of scanning is blooming ridiculous, last time I took four pieces to be scanned with a professional scanner, it cost £145, and they did it as cheaply as possible!

I use compatibles. For my Epson r800 at Epson prices would be £120 to fill up, compatable price is just under £20!!!!!!!!!
As for quality, I use the printer for fine art prints and also the occasional photo shoot prints and, apart from needing to make slight tonal adjustments to my files (which I would need to anyway if I switched between different printers) they are great.
I also use compatable inks for my cannon printer (printing cross stitch charts ad packet fronts). I pay only £8 for a set of compatble inks compared to £75 branded or £35 tescos.
I would not go back to branded inks for desk-top printing and quality of print out is very important to me!

I have found a great supplier on eBay that guarantee the same quality prints from thier compatabl cartridges and have always delivered next day :-)
