I want to say that im very disgusted after reading a post how one particular member here as been abused just because they want a Puggle.....there are always going to be crossbred dogs no matter what anyone say's or does, it will never change....and the reason why dogs are in rescue is down to irresponsible idiots (dumping there pets because they lost interest, or some other sad excuse) and this isn't just people buying a dog on a whim who know nothing about a breed, there are also people out there who breed pure breds and don't care where there pups end up and this goes for well known show breeders as well.
Many people prefer a crossbreed because they don't have the health problems that come with pedigree's and also they live longer.....yes there are always going to be the money grabbers who know they will sell there pups at a high price due to people wanting them.....but this doesn't mean the buyer is wanting one because of the trend.
I have seen a stunning litter of Puggles, that look like both breeds not just one.

Then perhaps you'll have read people's reasons why most people on this board don't like people deliberately breeding and selling crossbreeds for over inflated prices?
Perhaps you should also reconsider making sweeping generalisations such as that cross breeds are more healthy than pedigrees.
Here we go again!!

Unless something can be done to stop cross breeding, its always going to go on and i agree that the prices are ridiculous.
I have always had cross breed's and pedigrees and i have never had any problems healthwise with the crosses.

But by the same token, I have two German Shepherds who are fit as fiddles, haven't needed to see a vet in years, yet I have a crossbreed who has serious epilepsy, is partially blind and has constant tummy trouble! That doesn't prove that either the majority of pedigrees or crossbreeds are healthier than the other either!
I have always had pedigree's and cross breeds (not designer but rescue) and I have had constant health issues with cross breeds, the pedigree's have remained healthy up until old age.
I believe the general idea is that you shouldnt line the pockets of bad breeders/back yard breeders regardless of pedigree or cross however silly new cross's are popping up everywhere without health testing either parent yet sell for the price of a pedigree (sometimes more) from a great breeder who health tests.

As multiple usernames are not allowed it would be best to contact admin@champdogs.co.uk and sort out the loss of your original one.

I can think of a few it might be :-O
I have to say its a very strange name for a dog, cross breed or not, i'd hate to think what gives the 'gle' on it. The poor pups.
Have you researched how the breed might cross together, i expect not. What is the purpose of making such a breed, i ask out of curiosity. Does it help people with Asthma or may a seeing eye dog with better training?

A Puggle is a silly made up name for a Pug crossed with a Beagle.
That id an awful cross to make by anyones standards. I'd hate to think of the skelital deformities it might get.
> A Puggle is a silly made up name
Too right.

Are many of the "designer cross breeds" bred for any other reason than a cute factor and to make money?
I doubt if it can be stopped and yes cross breeds must have always existed but the dog as a fashion accessory seems to be increasing along with the desire for designer lables real or fake and a kind of look at me life style.
I am sure few if any are bred with the dogs welfare in mind
I don't think i'd want a puggle under my arm. oh what a muddle it would be lol.
Why can't it just be known as a cross instead of such a silly name.
I remember growing up with poeple calling the dogs first crosses, give you the idea they'll go on to be a mongrel. its a better description.

Because a Pug cross or a Beagle cross wouldn't make as much money!

Exactly. Growing up I remember a lady on my road selling her lab cross poodle pups for £10 each because it was a pure accident. Now, they go for £600/£700 because they are a labradoodle.
I love all dogs but it makes me angry to see any dog (pedigree or cross) used as a cash cow.

So how do you get a Puggle without using a Pug and a Beagle - both of which are purebred dogs which you decry? It would seem that rather than diminishing possible health problems you are actually doubling up on them. Or are the Puggles parents both health tested and free from problems? I would imagine very few of the dogs used for cross breeding are health tested so fail to see why the resulting puppies would be thought to be healthier than the dogs they were bred from.

I don't actually mind people making money from breeding (if they are lucky) my objection is unethical breeding for money.

Why do people automatically assume that because its a crossbreed it will be healthier?!?!?!!?!?!! And live longer!!? What a load of bull! In my family we have had an English Springer Spaniel who lived to a ripe 16 years and also a Bichon Frise who lived until 15!
And FYI a LOT of people buy because of 'trend'. I believe the Puggle (what a nasty name!!) 'trend' came about as several celebrities were snapped with one under their arm... I for one remember seeing a picture of one in a 'gossip' mag and how amazing they were...
The ones that get to me the most are those who cross a 'hypoallergenic' (I use the term loosely as no dog is 100% hypoallergenic) breed with another breed and claim the pups are hypoallergenic.
Also, anyone ever seen a Bull-Shih?
hehe :)

i also saw a pic of a 'puggle' once with bent legs and crooked feet
i also blame the celebs that walk with a chi or similar under their arms and was tired for a while reading the ads that said 'like paris hiltons dog'
