my staffie has eaten  half a pack of bon bon sweets shes drinking lots too will she be alright?
- By Daisy [gb] Date 09.02.11 18:42 UTC
Shouldn't be a problem although she might be sick :) They weren't chocolate were they, as chocolate is poisonous in dogs ??

I think the worst you might get apart from maybe being sick is the dreaded shits she will get tomorrow LOL. She will drink lots I always need a drink after eating a couple myself :)

Call your vet for advice; she might bloat.

What's the risk here, JG ?? The sweets or the water - or both ??

I would say mainly gulping lots of water . Yes I would give the vet a ring rounded belly as well would want her watched and checked.

seems alert like nothing wrong now wants to play fight been outside to the toilet but im not checking in the dark might slip in somthing.

has she stopped drinkingthe water ?and what about her belly? If she starts panting ,looking worried stretching or straining to go to the toilet or vomiting but nothing comes up ring the vet immediately.
More than likely a few sweets and she is fine. Just get worried about bloat as it happens so fast and I lost a dog a few years ago

no more drinking since about 6 not panting either just looks a normal naughty staffie wants one of our biscuits keeps following me to the kitchen and standing by the biscuit cupboard.

Personally I would still ring the vet and get their advice, they could tell you what symptoms to look out for- just for peace of mind.
Lesson learnt re leaving sweets lying around, I thought children ate them fairly quickly lol!
Hope all's well.

Umm I have a Spanish who is partial to sweets and can find them anywhere and climb to get them.  Thankfully she now lives full time with me and I don't eat sweets LOL!

Sorry, I'm answering the question you asked of JG, I think the fear of bloat was due to the comment of the dogs belly being 'up like a balloon', rather than anything that had been ingested.
