I posted about this a while ago, the dog concerned was by dogs half brother.  I never thought it would get to court, but his owners were very determined.

Good for them, their determination will make sure another dog and family don't fall victim of this dog.

The reality is that there is no compensation for something like this. The memory of that day will be with the owners for all time. I think the defendant ought to have been jailed.

It's hard to see what they thought they were compensating them for at this amount...

...if this had been a commodity you'd imagine they might have given an award commensurate with the 'value' of the item or to buy a 'replacement'.  This amount doesn't even cover vet fees let alone go anywhere near emotional anguish.  I know it isn't about the money for the dog owner but where is the penalty for the offender?  If local authorities can set fines up to £1000 for dog control orders this amount is ridiculously low
