I am a bit confused and don't know if my sheltie bitch is in season or not.  She started her second season on 11 April last year which was 10 months after the first one.  So when I noticed a bloody discharge (fairly light) last Thursday 27 January I assumed she had started her season.  However yesterday (four days later) after testing with a tissue I couldn't see anything much there at all just a tiny tiny little speck on the tissue and the same today.

So I am at a loss as to whether she has had a season or not.  I checked with her breeder who said that generally bitches keep on losing after they have started.  I am hoping to breed her during her next season (assuming at the end of the year) but I am very inexperienced as Isla is the first bitch I have had who has not been speyed.  I'd be interested to hear your comments and experiences of your bitches' seasons.  I think Isla's last two seasons seemed fairly normal.

Hmm....so she started her season in April 2010 which was 10 months after the last so June 2009?

So June 2009.
April 2010.
January 2011.

Or am I misreading?  So every 9-10 months?
So she will be due her next around November/December this year?

My bitch comes in season every 5 and a half months with no problems.

Is her vulva swollen still? I am never 100% happy with walking my bitch until her vulva is back to the normal size.

If she had a 10 month gap last time then (like the last postee) she would be due for her season january, so I would say she is in season now. If you are intending to have a litter next time, thats the one to watch like a hawk to be sure of the first day.

It sounds like there is a possibilty that she has had a split season.
