WHat can be done about these people?

I love looking around the internet at dogs and other animals lol, I was directed to this one website and found over 30 adverts by one person claiming to be fostering and rescuing dogs, then I saw she bred differnt dogs and from what Ive seen she sold the mother after the litter has gone due to changge of circumstances, then i saw she needed to rehome dogs due to other dogs ect.

Anyone any idea what can be done about people like this? I mean as far as I am concerned this is puppy farming!

I decided to place an ad obviously not a real one and see if she replies, the add read free to good home as the title then the ad said entire GSD reason for rehoming dont have time for her.  sure enough my dog sounded just what she was always looking for and when could she come and get her.

There must be something I can do, this isnt right and dogs shouldnt be taken on just to process money!

I think you need a licence to act as the proprietor of a pet show which is what this amounts too, you would also need planning permission and to declare the profit and loss amounts to the Inland Revenue . So I guess one could apply a fair amount of pressure if one knows of such an establishment.

Agree with Nova and if he/she has not got a pet shop licence they are breaking the law and can be reported to trading standards.

They are dog dealers not a re-homing or rescue service.

There is some one near me who advertises on a well known site. She always has pups for sale, but is also advertising for adult bitches of popular breeds to be a family pet.

Out of mischief I replied stating I had a 2 year old spayed bitch available - no response. I got a friend to reply too, the only diffrerence was her saying the bitch was not spayed. Funnily enough, she a got a reply within hours.

I got a 'free to good home' Sheltie in April last year. A few months later noticed the same lady had an Ad up asking for a sheltie bitch no older than 3 years, must be free or cheap. Absolutely outrageous. I messaged the site owner explaining how this advertiser had given away a her sheltie bitch not so long ago and I suspected she was a puppy farmer/byb and they rescinded her membership. They must have had more evidence or complaints in their archives I think because my little message wouldn't have been enough on its own.
Obviously that just moved her from one classified site to another or she probably just made a new membership on the old site but i wasn't sure what else to do.

I'd definitely do as others have suggested and report her to your local council for trading without a pet shop liscence (sorry can't spell today).

If the dog or bitch is KC registered then an endorsement can be placed to prevent any offspring being KC registered, but there is no way except neutering to prevent them being used for breeding.

From the back yard breeder point of view they are getting a bitch that they don't have to rear for a year or more, and unless they are breeding more than 4 litters in any 12 months they don't need to be licensed, if they breed more than that and have a license again they are not breaking any laws :(

This is exactly what happened to a neighbours daughter when they re-homed a bitch because their two bitches were fighting, when the younger  came in season, a  few weeks later there was a litter advertised.
