I took my two puppies to get their puppy jabs yesterday.
My dogs are passported and the puppies will be as well so I thought I'll ask the vet to write the normal jabs on a passport (there is a column for them) so I have all vaccination details in the same document.
At the bill paying time, I was quite shocked to be charged £60 per passport (on top of £40 for the jabs)!
So £120 to have the vet write the vaccination details on a passports instead of the normal vaccination card...

I did question it and was told that is the charge in the system for issuing a passport but now after I have had time to think about it, surely that would be for the Rabies test sign off kind of issuing?
I feel ripped off but am not sure if this is a norm in UK?
I don't want to argue it if it is done thing here, even though to me it just seems like stealing my money for nothing  as the passports don't cost anything for the vet and the amount of work in writing the details on a passport or vaccination record card is surely the same :).
My other dogs are imports so I have not done puppy vaccinations in UK before...

I was charged for the issuing of a pet Passport, but that was after the titre test results came back.

In your case I would expect no charge for future entries ref the blood and titre, though you will be charged when you go for a health check before travelling, I was charged £57.

For ordinary vaccinations I take their normal vaccine card, but it isn't normally needed as most countries are only interested in the Rabies being up to date..

I help put together 2 passports in the summer and they came to about the same amount per passport, but we did have everything done at the same time including microchips, jabs, passport etc. We all know that vets prices vary from place to place ours is quite expensive but we would never go anywhere else as there are a few specialist residing in the practice who really do go out of their way to help.

One of my dogs will need a new passport soon as all the slots for tick/flea treatments willbe full. Although she will not need rabies vaccine or titre the new passport will be £60.00.  When I sent a pup to Canada a couple of years ago he didn't need rabies etc but did need a pet passport to fly and there was a similar charge then, I believe this is the issue charge from DEFRA.

Have all my routine vaccinations put in passport, as well as on card, and never been charged extra for that when dogs aleady has a passport .

So it seems in UK this is normal then...
I suppose the fact that I'm not used to paying a penny for the passport alone makes £60 sound a lot :)!

I have checked and it seems DEFRA does not charge vets anything for the passport issue so it is a nice little money making scheme for the vets for their signature on it...
