My Newfie girl is in her second season this one was rather late coming and on the lead up to it has been humping like mad, this started around 6 months after the first season around the time i
Since she has been on heat the humping has gone down dramatically.
She is always a right drama queen and real big la la I iave had more sleepless nights with her than I ever did any of my kids  now shes driving me totally nuts!
Every night she just wont settle and she seems to be on a misson to keep me awake all night
since sunday each night its getting worse I am sleeping or trying to sleep downstairs with her, There is a pattern to this she may winge a little during the day but within 5 mins of every one going up to bed she starts she goes from sleeping and snoring to stressie and she lays whining all time  if i ignore that or try to ignore it it then goes to a I want something soft bark then a whine and that is non stop till i go to her then she wants to go out, thats for nothing other than to get me freezing and then she refuses to come in for about a hour and she is quiet outside untill she wants to come back in then when she is in she is quiet for about 20 mins and it starts all over again!
then comes the morning and there she is sleeping sound she might just get up and move a couple of times in 6 hours buts thats just to get a cooler bit of the floor! She is snoring quite loudly at the minute and hasnt moved for 6 hour
I am really sure this is not pain as it has a definate pattern and I have tried arnicia which normally sort her out if she is in pain! and there was no difference.
Last night I kept her amused all evening so she didnt sleep before I wanted her to and I think that made her even worse its normal for her to get like a over tired kid if she isnt well and its bed time and she will winge coz she cant sleep but thats nothing like this winging! Also yesterday she tried to hump a few times again if that has any relation to whats going on with her lol!

Any suggestions I am in desperate need of sleep!

Sorry, no suggestions I'm afraid just wanted to let you know that you are not alone I find the night time whinging awful too!   We've just had two in season 2 wks apart so no sleep here for what seems an age!

Nothing wrong with them in the day or evening until bedtime... They wait until they hear you go to bed and then start singing!  Our bedroom is over the kitchen so you can't help but hear the racket they make.

They seem to spend the entire 3 weeks or so twittering/barking away all night.  When I go to them, they are pleased to see me, don't need anything other than company, I let them out for a wee but it makes no difference - as soon as I put them back to bed, they start again! The ones that are not in season are all peaceful as they watch me go about my nocturnal activities with their noisy relatives; they barely lift an eyelid - bet they are tired from all the racket too!

I just assume it's their hormones making them unsettled/lonely/increased need to wee in the night etc.

We also have Newfies - I'd say it sounds like she is ovulating and her body is telling her she should be mated! Did you by any chance notice what time her season started ? as I have found this makes a difference - when my bitches season starts around 4pm ( from first show of spotting) then each daily 'change' also happens around 4pm - perhaps your girls started during the night!
We had a few restless nights when our girl was ovulating,Huming everything that moved and panting, again, this all started around 4pm and went on for a good few hours.
Is there any reason she has not been spayed?

Thanks for the reply so glad to know its not unusual! I have Always had Bitches and have never ever had this,  I have had problems with the phantoms but never during a season not even with her first.  she isnt lonely as she can get into me whenever she wants I am back to sleeping ( or not) on the floor in my dining room! and so far she hasnt wanted to wee its just constant wingeing and in and out like a yo yo all night! she hasnt made a murmer all day again today so I am certain she isnt in pain with anything!

I would say it was during the night she started  I have a white kitchen floor and she normally sleeps in there and noticed the tell tale sign one morning, she starts slightly wingeing early evening and as the night goes on it gets worse and really bad non stop from midnight through to 6am,  this morning she was making so much fuss she woke Hubby up ( who normally sleeps through 3 alarm clocks and she was the other end of the house!)
She hasnt been spayed as we were considering breeding her, always having had girls I havent ever found it a problem UNTILL NOW lol!
Nice to know this isnt something unusual.
