Has anyone had any experience of a dog with lymphangiectasia. Our 5 year old Clumber spaniel is a present in a specialist hospital and has just today been diagnosed with this. He only showed signs of being ill on Saturday and is now in a very serious condition and we have been told that dogs don't always respond to medication. From what I have read lymphangiectasia usually develops over a period of some time so I am concerned that his chances of recovery are less due to the sudden onset and severity. I know at the moment it is a waiting game and I have every confidence in the vets, but it is helpful to know of other peoples experiences.

Thanks

Jackie

Thank you, he has deteriorated slightly today, so it is still a waiting game. If he responds to medication hopefully we will see some signs of improvement in the next day or two.

Jackie, haven't been able to join this thread as my computer has been off, but just wanted to wish your boy well, hope you see an improvement with the medication.

Thank you. The good news is he is home, on a lot of medication and a special diet. Unfortunately he also has pancreatitis but as the vet who discharged him put it he is over the crisis, but not out of the woods yet.
We are all delighted he is home and appears so well.
Thank you again for the good wishes.

If it's any consolation as far as the pancreatitis is concerned, I had my Toy Poodle on pancreatic enzymes for many years before losing her at 17 years old.  Being 100% strict about never letting her have fat of any kind, along with the enzymes, she did fantastic on them.

Jackie, so pleased to hear that he is doing better. Keeping everything crossed that he improves.
