Just being nosy as obviously it will vary a lot according to where in the country you are.

I have just had 2 medium sized dogs done today and it cost £160 each for the vet plus £45 each for the Xrays examination etc

Cross your fingers for low scores please :)

Good Luck :-)

Mine were done in the summer, hips & elbows under sedation for £200 which included BVA costs..That was with Marilyn down in Eastleigh.

BVA £50 including VAT plus x-rays & blood tests (I like to be happy!) £90 ... that was February 2010.

Can I use your vet please  trialist ha ha
Probably a long drive from Aberdeen though
- By Trialist Date 21.01.11 21:45 UTC
It's a fair drive from Aberdeen (just south of the border) ... but I did drive up to Aberdeen almost a year ago to collect one of my boys off one of the big blue boats. Maybe not so far!! I do complain about my vets sometimes, but I think they're pretty fair in terms of prices. I have a friend whose daugter lives in Essex, she finds it worthwhile to travel ooop north to have any major surgery done on her animals.

It's not a specialist vet I use either, just the local farm/pet practice. But they are good so I will stick with them

£200 for hips and elbows including BVA fee.  Very cheap for kent!
- By triona [gb] Date 21.01.11 22:39 UTC
I think ours was near £300 but most of the money went on putting the dog under as they are quite heavy.

We'd have thought our bitch with a thyroid problem would have already paid for enough of our vets holidays (the insurance company has paid out well over 18k for her in the past 8 yrs with tumours, pyometra, no thyroid, allergies etc.).  But clearly not £375 for a hip score done under a GA, they then told us the plates were lost in the mail but they'd re-do the x rays for a discounted rate!  Funnily enough after I gave them my opinion on another GA for my girl they magically re-appeared at the KC with a strange post date of 3 days previously instead of the 9 weeks ago that we'd had them done.

oh obviously we then paid the £45 or so to BVA

The joys of being on the essex/ london borders!

Had my medium (smaller range) girl done in November for £139.00 by a more specialised hipscorer.  Had my other girl done a year and a half before by my own vet and was charged £170

Just been to vet with my friend's bitch for hips and elbows. Vet does not give dogs a GA but will sedate if needed. Cost was around £175. Went to same vet with my bitch 2 years ago and cost was £140. Vet is in Perthshire.
