Has anyone had a Kia Sedona and if so what did you think of it ?.
Have read one or two reviews and seems like lots of teething problems on some and big problems on others.
I would not want a new one if I was keen-second hand around 5 years old-have seen one private seller-full service history-has had a new clutch-45,000 miles wants £2000
Cheers
I have a sedona sitting on my driveway waiting to be fixed, just that finances dictate .
My Sedona has been a fab car, driving to Italy in it and scotland miles and miles, been fab for the dogs, not to bad on fuel, a real work horse till it goes wrong.
It started to have problems with the fuel system a few months ago took it down had it put on the machine and it came up with three problems two minor and 1 major , fixed the minor but untill i can afford the major it will sit there.
When it comes to switches and sensors the Sedona has a lot and they are not cheap, have had a nightmare trying to get them from breakers and new ones are £1000 each and i need 3.
sufing the net i found that there are lots of people out there that have had the same problem with their sedona.
Don't mean to put you off but there are very expensive to fix.

Have had mine now for 5 years, travelled all over Europe with it, great tow car. find it good on long distances but just driving to work and back find it guzzles fuel. Parking can be a problem so find it easier to reverse. Lots of room for the dogs. Average 20K a year with shows etc and last year had to have new clutch and CAM belt.

I had one and hated it! Mine was an 07 the in the newer shape. Where to start....
It was an automatic and driving around town was a nightmare as the auto box had quite a few flat spots! Pulling out of junctions or onto roundabouts as well you had to factor on for a possible delay as it wouldn't always go when you put your foot on the accelerator.
Cruise control was fine as well so long as you didn't mind going 5 miles either side of the speed you set it to.
Fuel consumption was not the best with an average of 30 mpg . Beware of the road tax on the newer models, mine was over £400 a year.
The kia dealer did a recall on the boot caught andit was will tempremental after that.! The newer model i had also took a funny size of. tyres thay I couldn't get at any tyre fitting places locally and the dealers couldnt get them in for 6 weeks! Ended up getting them on the internet in the end.
On the plus side comfy car with plenty of space for dogs. But that is sadly about the only good thing I can say about it!

I know 2 people who drive them. First one needs 7 seats for kids but can fit her 2 large dogs in the back ok. They find it expensive to run & tax but is comfortable to drive. Second person has darkened windows and all caged out in the back for their dogs, says its fantastic and didn't feel worn out after driving to Scotland and back for a show.
I think you can get duds in all makes of car. My Volvo always needs small bulbs replacing and being automatic there can be a delay pulling away at a roundabout. A friend has a BMW X? 4 years old, 40K miles engine got water in it (was driving on a motorway at the time), quote for a new engine £12K!

Are the 2 back seats removable in a sedona or do they just fold away? If they are removable what size cages could go in the back? A friend in work has asked me about this.

I've had loads of automatics in the past, including 2 volvos, and this was by far the worse re delay in the gear box, i'm not just talking a second or 2 but more like 5 plus! Maybe i was just unlucky and had a 'Friday' car!
Mine had the blacked out windows in the back. the brakes as well I found were pretty bad for a modern car!
Re the back seats, don't know about the older models but the newer one I had they lifted out individually (they are very heavy by the way!)

I have a Sedona (04) and with large dogs, if I won money, I would buy a new one. I love it. All the seats lift out individually and when they are all out, its like a van. We have got two x 3 seater sofas in ours. We drive thro France every year in it and touch wood, have never had a problem with it at all. Loads of room for the dogs and kids.

Thanks for the info on the back seats hope I've understood - you can take the seats out one at a time? So in theory you could have 6 or 4 seats? Thank you I'll pass the info on.

Yes you can have any combination. The two seats behind the driver/front passenger seats are two seperate seats. The rear seats are 3 seats but in a bench format once they are installed but only as two to remove (if that makes sense). So you can have combinations ie 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 <g>. I keep 5 in mine which is two front seats, two middle seats and one rear one leaving still loads of room for a St Bernard and Mastiff even with 5 people in the car.

Thanks for the reply.
I have now sold my camper van so will go ahead with Kia-buying off my boss-they have full service history-has had a new clutch at 43000-that was a concern but the car is like a car boot sale inside-not the cleanest I have seen-so I think they ride the clutch/seen the person driving it and foot on it all the time-they did not know where air con switch was, after three years-any button will do was the answer-that made me giggle.
Overall it looks in good condition-a good valet and it will look somewhat better. (Should i have a at home valet company ot take to a valet works-really needs it as seats of drivers/passenger seats a muddy brown and should be grey-Ah horrible-but no holes in cloth.
For £2000 for a 5 year old car I think it will be OK for me and dogs as a run around-only do 4000 a year.
Company car of my mans used for shows-free fuel !!!
Not done deal as yet having a spin at weekend-I have had a spin and drove fine-but I do not know what noises to hear.going to look/drive
is my man on Saturday

Have a look on Parkers for a review, they're an independent car review site and have their own and owners opinions, they also tell you common fault's, what's a good price to pay 2nd hand, mpg, and tax bracket.
I met up with a lady on Monday who has one for her two PMG's......t'was like a blimin' bus ! lol.
