If you're planning on entering Blackpool Ch. show don't forget to pay for parking with your entry as it's
£10 to pay on the day. Doesn't affect us as if we enter we'll be taking the caravan.
£10 who do they think they are?
Outrageous !!
Peanuts

As usual it's to allow docked dogs to be shown.

And this carries a charge for these shows does it? Crazy ruling me thinks..
I won't be going to this show, never done it, but all the same what does it matter to the general public if they pay or not as to whether a dog is shown with a docked tail?
I won't be going to this show, never done it, but all the same what does it matter to the general public if they pay or not as to whether a dog is shown with a docked tail? I know, it's nuts. And all of those with breeds that are NOT docked effectively end up having to pay for those that do, as we all have to pay for car parking where before there wasn't one, at several shows.

It's not a charge to show docked dogs, it's just that docked dogs can't be exhibited at shows where the public has paid an entry fee. So they make no charge for entry and charge for car parking instead, when it used to be the other way around. It's the only way for people to show docked dogs.

But why charge? I'm not understanding the reasoning behind levying any change in the first place however you look at it..

To help cover costs, I suppose.
It's not a charge to show docked dogs, it's just that docked dogs can't be exhibited at shows where the public has paid an entry fee. So they make no charge for entry and charge for car parking insteadIf this is so, why not issue a parking pass for exhibitors who have already paid for their "entry" and charge the £10 to the general public?

The cost to us at time of entry is £3.00 if we don't pay at this point then we will be charged. Even disabled will have to pay the £10 which is a bit annoying when they don't pay elsewhere. If you have a car full though, £10 is cheap if you are going in to watch I suppose.

No docked dog can be shown at a show if the public is charged to enter so they charge to park the car and let you in free.
It is stupid and someone did not think it through - if a dog is legally docked then it is legally docked and I cant understand why a member of the public can see a docked tail if they pay to enter but not if they only pay a car park charge.
Mind you at Crufts you do both.

But at Crufts it's the NEC that charges for parking, not the KC.

Often wondered about that because depending what you are attending the car park charge is different so the hirer must have some input one would think. Mind you the entry fee is high as well.

I think the NEC charges are way off the planet as well

Nova is right, other events at the NEC charge less for carparking!!!

Perhaps it is something to do with the cost ofcleaning up the dog waste and disposal, as so many people never seem to pick it up there, seems the worst venue to me for all champ shows for it.
my daughter went to a couple of events at the nec and the parking was free, when she queried it she was told that it all depends on what event is taking place and if the event people have decided to subsidise the carparking.

I for 1 object to the carpark fee at any show, entry prices are high without having to pay to park on a field that is so uncomfortable to drive on and bounces you all over.
I will like last year be pick my show's carefully, Driffield is look like it will be a no, the last show was a right mess, with the mud. I know the weather cannot be controled, but the price we paid for what we got was way over the top, why oh why can't it go back to doncaster, 2 out of 3 show's at that race ground has been a total mess.

Yep i wont be going to Driffield this year either, 4 hours queing to get out was not fun!
I sat down with a friend and we did a rough estimate of the income derived by the average Ch show through entries and trade stand payments based on 9,000 dogs per show. Take off that venue hire, tents, insurance, judges expenses, etcand the probable revenue was staggering. Now my friend organises large equine and countryside events that rival Ch shows in size and venue (some are the same like Stafford) so she is well used to costing events. Where does this money go? Certainly not put back into the show to attract exhibitors!
Car parking for one thing is outrageous at £10. The standard charge for camping a rip off as usually you have to pay for the whole duration, cannot pay for just one night except say at Hound Assoc Scotland. I object to paying £60 for 4 nights when I only want to stay the night before my classes. Even £35 is too much with no water or electric hookups provided. Online entries while I like them why the administration charge? I enter on average 4 dogs per show, all at the same entry fee per dog. What do I get in return - a flimsy place card that half the time now looks homemade, maybe a rosette for BOB. That is it. CRUFTS is a disgrace, not even facility for overnight camping, the KC say the NEC will not allow it yet when I ask the NEC they say the KC don't want to provide the staff to man a camping area.
Rip off dog showing UK style. It really has become a market place with trade stands and the exhibitors an afterthought.
i know what you mean about the camping at the east of england ground i had friends who where breed showing and they paid twice as much as we did for the agility camping, same ground different area in the ground though, so why the difference in payments,
i also noticed if you pre book your parking pass blackpool it is 3.00 but 10.00 on the day why the big difference

Harkback, which shows do you take the caravan where there's no water???

Yeah it annoys me regarding camping and I've mentioned it on here before. I only want to camp for a day or two so why do I have to pay a full weeks price?

Im not a mean person, I can afford to pay BUT.......
When I have already paid a society nearly a hundred pounds in entry fees ( my part of the bargain) and turn up to the show for the society to fulfill their part of this agreement ( where they take my fees and they provide a venue and judge)... I do not expect to pay £ 10 to put my car at their show. I have no choice - do I?
If I dont want to pay to park in a field will they refund my fees?...like hell they will.
The poor attendants at Windsor get the full force of my wrath when they try to park me so close to the cars either side I cant open my doors.....more profit. I told the boy last year that I would park sideways to get my monies worth.
It makes me seeth!
> Harkback, which shows do you take the caravan where there's no water???
As in hookups as I said. Obviously there is water somewhere but not usually the option to refill the motorhome tanks.
