Can any1 tell me how pups can get this or Giardia please-- been asked by vet to provide stool sample from litter to check 4 both as everything else has failed and he doesn't want to give antibiotics without test done first -- but worried I'v somehow done something wrong with this litter. Never come across it b4 -- please help
I have recently had a litter which had this at 3 weeks. I had a strict cleaning/disinfecting routine plus foot dip and hand sprays but tbh there was only me with the pups at this stage anyway. My vet said wild birds carry it and it is very easy to catch and I was just unlucky. I think my bitch picked it up from our garden and passed it on to the pups. Only half the litter showed signs but all were treated. Once on strong antibiotics they all cleared up, the only thing I would say is to give the pups a good probiotic treatment such as Pro-Kolin Enterogenic after to help them get back to normal.

We have it work regularly unfortunately... strict quarantine required.
I'd get the sample to your vet as he/she has suggested and then correct course of treatment can be carried out. :)
I have replied to you on your same post on the Breeding forum.
Just an update --- I was collecting samples to take to the vet for analysis @ the same time I took them off of RC and started on Beta --the change of food cleared up their diahorrea! After 3 weeks of continual runs I was relieved (very mildly put)... lesson to self -- check food tolerance first.. saved myself a fortune in vets bills and unnecessary medication for the pups..
