Had a really weird illness the last few days.  Severe pain in back around the shoulder blade and just below and just above and severe pain in left breast.  DOn't feel ill as such but if I exert myself slightly the pain is immense.  Can't lie down properly in bed and use a pillow to prop certain areas up LOL!

No cough or anything else.  Spoke to someone else today and they said that they have been similiar.  At one point I thought I was having a heart attack the pain was so bad.

Anyone any ideas?  Will have to phone GP in the morning I think to see what it can be.

Get checked out ASAP as it could be a blood clot in the lung.

I had something similar last year...pain in my chest and arms and I was very worried...had a chest x-ray and it turned out to be pneumonia ..even though I had no cough or other symptoms apart from the pain...

Anti-B's soon sorted me out..

Cheers

This could be anything from a pulled muscle to something really serious - severe pain should not be ignored unless you know what is causing it - get medical opinion you would not have left it 3 days if it had been one of the hounds.

I'm sure I had pneumonia 2 years ago but never went to the doctor, then I had a cough with similiar pain.  Will definitely book an urgent appointment in the morning as it's not getting any better

You are describing exactly what I have had for the past month on and off, I too thought heart attack but I can make the pain come on by lying on that side. The other night I had to sleep propped up and had used Ibroprfen gel rubbed in, it's in the chest/armpit area. I went to my chiropractor and she treated me with accupuncture and said I had pulled a pectoral muscle, I suppose carrying the heavy shopping had done it. I have to go to the dr next week for my BP so am going to mention it, at the moment I am pain free.
Hope you get sorted out.

If you know you haven't pulled a muscle then I wouldn't be waiting around to see if anybody on here can help !. You could try the NHS Helpline initially - they might be able to put your mind at rest.
My cousin, a fit and healthy 39 year old recently had a viral heart attack - went to bed with what she thought was indigestion and a pain in her arm - woke up and was rushed to hospital.
No point worrying - ring for advice this evening.

Hey...............
Severe pain is an indicator that something is wrong
Get it checked out sooner rather than later.
Not here, but properly!

Hope you have taken 'medical' advice by now?
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 04.01.11 10:53 UTC
Been trying to get through to GP's since 8.00 this morning and it's continuously engaged.
- By Sawheaties [gb] Date 04.01.11 16:31 UTC
Can you not book online ?ours allow it as whenever you phone during the slim window of opportunity that they give you they are always engaged!
- By suejaw Date 04.01.11 16:54 UTC
Call NHS direct. If they feel you need to be seen they'll send you to A&E and you'll either see one of their GP's or be in minors to start with.
