Hi Guys.
I need some advice!!
Phoenix is a 12 week old tomorrow, Samoyed. We have had him for 4 weeks now, and so far so good.
My problem is this...
After having his breakfast this morning, he promptly threw it up. He was sick again and more breakfast came up. The third time he was sick it was runny and the fourth time it was small amounts of frothy bile.
He is ok in himself, waggy tail etc and his poops are solid.
Should i be 'starving' him, as you would do if you were a human, for 24 hours, or should i be feeding him anything, as he keeps going to the cupboard where he knows his food is kept and looking at me with huge sorrowful eyes  :(

Just thought i'd add, im lou-lous sister and also have Phoenix's sister Khione, who was also very sick yesterday. They was around each other xmas day but not since. She is fine today i might add. Could they have caught something off each other?? And shoot me if im dumb, but, can dogs get illnesses from humans as there was a sickness bug going round the family??

Personally ( that's all I can say!) I wouldn't be starving a pup of this age. I would make sure they were hydrated and offer very small meals of either chicken and rice or fish and plain mash. Probably with a dollop of natural yoghurt on top.
If I were concerned enough I would phone the vet for advice. It would appear to be a bug of some type causing this as they are both affected. Watch the colour of the gums. Please make sure that you contact a vet if they appear off colour, lethargic, however just like babies the reaction can be extreme, poorly one minute bouncing back the next.
Let us know how you get on, but if in doubt pick up the phone to the vet.

Thankyou! i cant speak for my sister but Khione's gums were nice and pink, they was the first things i checked. I made the mistake of keeping her on her normal meals as i thought she was being sick due to gulping down her food in a matter of seconds (little minx) then my sisters pup getting ill this morning was just a bit freaky! As far as i know she has fed him some chicken and rice on the advice of a vet. Thanks for the good advice, i forgot about the yoghurt!

On the advice of a vet, I feed Phoenix a small spoonful of chicken and rice last night about 9pm, he appeared to keep it down, so i gave him another small spoonful about 10pm. The vet said if he vomited again to abstain food until morning.
Twenty minutes later he vomited again  :(
I stayed up with him all night, he slept mostly, waking at 6am for a wee. He went back to sleep till about 8.30am and i gave him a spoonful of chicken and rice. He kept it down, and so far i have been giving him a spoonful every hour with no vomiting!!!
He was tearing around the garden like a looney earlier, chasing his tail, and barking his head off, so hopefully he is on the mend.
His gums are pink, so im hoping it was just a 24 hour thing!!

Very restricted food intake for any dog who is vomiting. I don't know where you live but in the New Forest area there has been a very virulent sickness/ diarrhoea bug going around for several weeks now. Dogs and cats have been suffering. It is possible that this has transferred to other areas. I hope he is okay now.
