My girls have come in season and it is really stressing my young boy out. He was still very much a puppy at their last season so it never bothered him,but this time he is crying all the time and he has to be with me non stop. All this I can deal with but the main problem is that he has stopped eating. He is a little on the lean side to start with so for him to lose any weight is a big worry for me.I am trying to tempt him with alsorts but the only thing he does scoff down is a bit of cheese.Mince and chicken he takes off me but spits it out.Any suggestions would be welcome.

If he's as badly affected as that it might be kindest to send him to stay with family/trusted friends for the guration.

my rottie when he was entire did not eat for about 7 days asked the vet for advice and he said he will eat when ready and he did but the panic was awfull for me.

i also many years ago an old breeder told me this and i still do it today when i have a bitch in season, when the boys stop eating and howl instead, the bitch is put in a cage and the males are caged beside her all have their covers on them and i have a peacefull night instead of them howling and whimpering, and for me they do not seem to go off their food either,

but my sil has to send one of her dogs away normally to us as he is really bad and will not settle at all.

I agree, try to find someone he is happy to stay with, I had to do this with my boy now sadly gone whenever Ellie was in season, or he would howl, refuse to eat, or throw up. The one or two times we couldn't find any friends that were free for 10 days or so, hubby had to take him to the office which luckily he was able to do, where the dog would sleep all day, tired out. He would get his meal at lunchtime, so at least when he came home and howled all evening he had digested the food and couldn't throw it up, so he didn't lose much weight, but it was horrible seeing him so upset and inconsolable.
