Well, what did we all think??
I know some may have recorded it, so I'd better not give too much away!

But come on admit it!... who cried at the end when she did the 'you know what'?... (I saw it coming but still cried buckets!!)
I have to confess to having been too young to have seen the original series so can't compare on that level. I think I may have been spoiled somewhat by being a huge Downton Abbey fan, Downton won out in my eyes.

The only thing I'm not sure of is their use of 'real' characters like Wallace Simpson, but I'm looking forward to tonight's episode so I'll give it time.

i watched the original series on ITV3 a few weeks ago - fab - love Hudson and Rose. I watched the first one of the new series and enjoyed it as a stand alone series rather than an follow on from the original. Will watch the second one today. three episodes won't be enough to judge it on though I don't think - i'm loving the mother in law though!!

Didn't watch Downton so can't judge!!

I have mentioned this on the 'Christmas TV' thread.  I didn't think much of it and found it all rather boring.  I loved the original series so maybe my expectations were too high, I also loved 'Downton Abbey'.  Don't know if I'll bother watching the final episode this evening, having said that, there is nothing else on!! :)

Downton Abbey also big fan of!!!  much better but enjoying Upstairs Downstairs hard not to compare with DA though.

Shed a few tears though last night x

At least you got the choice to watch Downton Abbey up here in Scotland it was decided we wouldn't like it so they didn't show it GRRR!!!

I loved the original Uppie Doonie so was wary about a new version but I enjoyed it and wouldn't mind some more. I didn't cry at the end of the 2nd episode but did at the end of the 3rd.

I really enjoyed all 3 episodes and am hoping they will make it into a series.

I enjoyed it, sadly I do remember the original, although I was just wee at the time, I'm glad that horrible sister's bogged off to Germany, couldn't stick her.
Big Downton Abbey fan too, and I'm in Scotland, I had to watch it on IPlayer but then I twigged that if you have Sky it can be seen on ITV London. Just waiting on the new series of Larkrise, which has to be the best, bit twee, but who doesn't love a bit of twee on a Sunday night lol.

Really enjoyed USDS when it was first on and have watched it again on ITV3 recently - have so far watched the first two episodes of the new one and I like it but it is best viewed forgetting the title - nice idea using the same house and Rose but apart from that it is a totally different feel. Loved Downton and can't wait for the follow up series, somehow that has the same feeling of dignity and respect that the first series of USDS had, something this latest version seems so far to lack.

Think USDS has the edge in terms of interior decor. Lady Holland's boudoir is a triumph.

I hardly recognised the house except for the hall way. not sure i liked the blue and green and hudsons pantry and the kitchen were completely different. rose didnt say much but it was ok

Watched part of the first one, but MIL kept going on how awful it was that it wasn't like that in her day.  As I was being uncharacteristically pleasant to all over the festive period, I bit my tongue.  It wasn't supposed to be a recreation, I assume that it is next generation on?

I will enjoy it without the running commentary at a later date.
