Hi all
My girl had a litter of pups which are now 2 weeks and 1 day old. I have had a definate runt of the litter, a little boy, since the start as he is quite a bit smaller than all the rest of the pups, 2 boys & 5 girls. Anyway, yesterday I got the scales out again to weigh the pups as I needed to worm them and the pup is half the weight of his brother. Brother is 1200gms and he is 600gms. All the girls weigh between800gms and 1kg. The rest of the pups are fat, chunky puppies but he is a bit, well, puney. He seems to be developing well, his eyes are opening and he is starting to get on his feet and he is strong when attatched to a teat. I just don't know if I should intervene with this boy(obviously apart from sticking him on everytime I pass!). Any ideas?
i had a girl here last year she had 8 pups and 1 of the girls was tiny at birth i didnt think she was going to make it she less then half the weight of the rest even when pups got to 8weeks she was still tiny and half the weight of the other pups ,well their all a year old now and she is as big has her litter sisters and is such a beautiful girl! :) xx

Yes, he is gaining, just not as quickly as the others that's why I was worrying. But he is strong and healthy so I think it's just because he's not a big fatty like the others! He is so my favourite too. He was the first pup booked as well and I'm so glad as I can't keep a boy but he would definately have been staying had he not been booked! I can't see past him to find the best bitch either!!
