Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Dont Know whether to go to work!?

I am due in at work at half past 6 this evening, my husband will be here, but is not as clued up about whelping as I am. Basically we have been seeing signs that the end is near for almost a week, but today we have had a temp drop. In previous days it has been around 99-100f keeping a regular pattern daily, but since midnight it has gradually dropped to 98.2f and stayed there since 11am. She did have a period of shivering earlier today, but now she is just sleeeping stretched out on her side. She has also completely rearranged her bedding 2 or 3 times. Do you think I would be ok to go to work? I will be home around 11.30pm. Many thanks xx

I wouldnt.
Some bitches give no sign before whelping and others make a meal of it.
You have no way of knowing Im afraid.

Do you have a friend who is clued up  who lives near who hubby can call on?

Afraid it looks like your in a bit of a pickle ... I would have made sure I had leave already booked this near to her whelp.

By reading the post above, it looks like the OP and her hubby work shifts, she said that he was at home, and she would be out for five hours.   In todays climate there are very few people that dont have to work sadly, however it sounds like there would always be someone at home with the pups.  She was a just a bit worried about the actual birth coinciding with her needing to be in an already short staffed emergency call centre.

Anyway from the other post it sounds like their dog had already started so we dont know what she decided to do.
