Topic Dog Boards / General / Rhodesian Ridgeback gait ? Possible HD?
- By nouggatti [ie] Date 15.09.02 21:11 UTC
Hi all,

The RR we took out from the pound has a most funny walk, he walks as if he has mild hd, but when you jog or run with him his gait is fine.

Walking he seems to have his legs out further from his body. The sanctuary who have him know a bit about dogs and say that he has very steep back legs, and walks a bit like a mastiff

We are of course going to check this out with a vet, but was wondering if RR's do have a slightly strange walk but normal running gait?

Thanks

Theresa

R/R should move free and smooth, it would sound as if yours has some construction fault but it may just be lack of angulation, and nothing that would cause him problems. Speak to the vet and see what they think but dont take the reply as gospel unless they x-ray. Jackie
