Please help, my bitch is now on day 60 of her 1st litter, things have been going well and I have had lots of good movements from the puppies, but today im getting very little movement.
Is it normal at this stage for the puppies to slow the movements down or is something really wrong!
Panic mode is setting in fast :(
I would be so greatful for any advice.
Thank you x

Puppies do tend to go quiet the day before birth, so maybe that's what is happening, just keep a close eye on her as things may well start happening soon.
All of my litters their has been little to no movement from puppies day before. Probably all the movement the day before was them getting in place to be born now they're ready in line just waiting for the hormones to trigger labour. Are you monitoring temperature? Has she started stage 1 yet?
Her temp dropped on sat to 35 but had gone back up today to 38.3, and she went off her food at the weekend but she is eating again now, she is resting alot but dosent seem to be showing any other signs, she just wants to be cuddleing me all day!
And her bump seems to have got a little smaller.
whish she could talk and tell me whats wrong :)
when the temp drops and then goes back up like that its the sign whelping isnt going to be to long ,sounds like pups could start coming within the next 24h (well start of labour :) )
And her bump seems to have got a little smaller.
sounds like pups have dropped and are ready to be born :)
good luck xx
Thanks guys, ive stopped panicing now.
Greatful to you all xxx
Hopefully have some news for you soon :)

Yep it's normal. I always say that the pups have got into place and usually happens two days before birth. Good luck.

Hi I know how you feel we are on day 58 and my girl is losing mucus, sleeping a lot and been nesting today. Not sure when she is going to start keeping a close eye on her, she is feeling so sorry for herself. Good louck hope all goes well xx
thank you, sounds like you might be getting your puppies before me!
Good luck, will be thinking of you x
bradleyboo1 some girls just dont show any signs before 1st pup comes i have 1 girl that would be so clean i didnt see any thing she lost! she ate her food the moring she had her pups ,the only sign i did see was she had very soft poo's 24h before she started ,she didnt nest at all she just slept and would breath heavy whenshe was asleep ,i just looked over to her and could see contrations her 4 pups were born in 1h :) xx

Sounds like my girl white lilly, on her 1st litter she had breakfast the day the puppies were born, I saw a contraction at 4.30pm, heated up the heat pad, and the first puppy was born at 5.30, the second and last with one whimper from my girl at 7.30, and that was it!
Well still no puppies, she did have a big loss of jelly yesterday, been nesting all night and has had 2 very small soft poo's in the last hour but she seems to be still all tails waging without out care in the world.
fingers crossed it wont be that much longer x

Hi no puppies here either my girl has been panting and shivering since 2pm yesterday. Not eating very much but still bright although she is tired. Think waters may have broke now (nipped upstairs for 2 mins lol) or either that she has had an accident. Hope it wont be too long now it is horrible seeing her like that. Good luck hope your girl wont be too much longer.
Sorry guys but help needed again, 1 puppy delivered fine in the whelping box at 4.30, then my bitch got out of the box and sat on a towel by my feet to deliver the 2nd puppy at 5.30, she hasnt been back in her box since she delivered the 1st puppy and is now eating and walking round waggin her tail, but i can still feel somethin hard.
What do i do?????
if she looks well and is acting well i wouldnt worry just yet i had a springer that whelped 13 pups with over 1h inbetween each pup, she just rested till next 1 came is she still contrating? id give her 2h and see whats shes like but if your worried ring the vets thats the best thing to do! hope shes ok and you too xx
you could get her scanned to see if anymore pups?
is she not showing any interest in the 2 pups? did she clean them? I wouldn't worry about her taking a while between pups, my bitch started at about 7.30 am and finally finished at about 9pm. I think she was put off by a unnecessary vets visit in the middle though. ( she went all flat and limp, unresponsive to me poking her.....got her to the vets and the little sod got up and hopped out of the car!)
I'd be more worried if she isn't mothering the pups she has, make sure you keep them warm and don't let her go too long without feeding them. I think if they do nurse its supposed to encourage contractions.
good luck
She did whelp another pup at 7.55 then she went and sat her self the other side of the room and looked at me, i eventually got her back in her box to nurse her 3 pups but as soon as i turned my back she was paceing around the room again.
I new i had spoilt this girl 2 much but she is my baby :)
can you feel anymore? is she feeding them ok you need to stay with her all the time and make sure she feeds them she might just be wondering what the hell has just happend to me! youve got to try and get her to bond with them when she lays with them tell her shes a good girl ,congrates and hope your girl soon becomes a good mummy xx
You need to sit with her by the box so that she stays with her babies , you shouldn't be leaving the box at all at this stage , make sure she is settled in her box and nursing her pups. Do you think she has finished?

Hi My toy bitch was like this with her first litter and I had to sit by the box and make her stay with them for the first 48 hours. She was in a box where she couldn't leave them but could sit in the corner away from them. I held her down and put the puppies and and gave her lots of encouragement. I semi slept sitting up holding her in place then one little lick on the head of one puppy and she turned into super mum.
She has had a traumatic time and if a maiden bitch has no idea what these things are. Just sit with her and don't leave her. You will be exhausted but it will come right.
