Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / puppies due on saturday ...... feel like I am going mad
- By Tracyd [gb] Date 12.12.10 13:24 UTC
I am so excited my girl is due her puppies on 18th december and I feel like I am cracking up really cant wait.  Got everything all ready put heat lamp on last night.  She has started to lose some mucus (just a little) and is sleeping most of the time. She is rather big so I think she is struggling now.  She is cleaning herself quite abit too and today she is very timid!!  Is this all normal feel like I am going mad watching her every move.  Will be glad to get to work tomorrow lol (my partner works shifts so I will be home by the time get leaves) xx

First it's important for you to know that she could have whelped days ago and pups would have been perfectly viable.  She can't be left alone - if you need the loo, take her with you.  And take a torch at night when she wants a wee, as some bitches give birth to a pup like this.

Don't have any love of heat lamps.  My very expensive one is at the bottom of a heap of junk!  :-)

I would never be without under bed heating though.  Love my Petnaps!

Watch for her eyes to look glazed.  The pain shows in their eyes first.

thanks Jean think she is feeling very sorry for herself today.  Yes I took her out last night and I took a torch just in case although she doesnt want to go far now x  She has been panting on and off now two days but think it is just the strain of the puppies

Pups would only of been viable from yesterday as she's still got 6 days to go.  WOuldn't worry about popping to the toilet at the moment as they show some signs of labour but definitely wouldn't pop to the shops or anything without anybody  being with her.

She does sound as though she won't go full term though

Hi Tracey
If you feel her stomach from time to time you will feel the contractions if she's having them. My girl would shiver, pant, sit upright and head up, you could see she had started her contractions. I didn't notice any mucus but she did lose her waters on cue, about 10 minutes before 1st pup was born.

Good luck, sounds like she's imminent...

thanks guys she has now moved out her box to the corner at the back door just going to let her do what she wants.  Been out a walk and she peeing, pooing fine so all seems okay.  Doesnt seem to be any contractions yet phoned the vet this afternoon and they said she may well be like this for a couple of days before next stage of labour dont think she will last till saturday though!!!  I just want this to be over for my baby she looks so sad.... its a sin!! xx

have got home and just after my partner left she started panting and shivering.  Still eating but not given her anymore in case shes sick.  How long is this expected to last I know it will probably be a few hours.  Puppies are still very active.  She keeps trying to get upstairs and is going all timid.  Her breathing is very laboured but I think this is due to her size xx
