This litter really is not going smoothly!
Puppies had the runs and I managed to pull one little girl through (her brother never got the bug) so I have only two pups.
They are now 9 days old and were doing good.
Yesterday I started to notice some frustration when suckling and today I'm pretty sure my girls milk is drying up.
The pups pull and cry and seem not satisfied when suckling and their weight gain has lessened today as well.
So far they seem happy enough and not crying of hunger but they bellies are definitely the size they have been.
Is there anything or any remedies I could try to keep the milk going? massaging? Food? Herbal?
Really do not want to bottle feed if I can avoid it.

Mother had a c section and did not eat very well for first 4 days but has started to eat more lately.
Her milk flow has been fine till now...
She is refusing any liquid I offer her apart from plain water.
I have tried homemade chicken stock, puppy milk, yogurt, goats milk...
I have been putting the pups on her as often as I can and they seem happy enough to keep suckling for quite long periods, hoping this will bring the milk down more...

My girl is little confused and rejected the pups each time they got ill but returned when we lost the sick one.
I feel her maternal instinct got quite a hit with the bug going around, and of course there were less action on her nipples when I nursed the sick puppies.
the two I have left have been suckling from her for days now so I don't know what is causing the issue now.
Mothers antibiotics finished 2 days ago (Csection aftercare) and that is the only thing that I can think of has changed.

anything I could try?

The old breeders used to say raw red meat for milk. :)  Good luck.

When we had our last litter at the beginning of the year we gave our girl best steak mince from our butcher in the village, freeze first of course, defrost and feed as much as she'll take, she had masses of milk.

For constant milk supply you need to give constant fresh water, if you express your bitch just after she has fed the pups you could think she is not supply them with enough milk always do it before she feeds them and then you can see if she is supplying enough milk, as i find dogs fill up just like woman just before a feed, especially because they are coming upto nine days old. If you find she once you have expressed milk before a feed she isn't suppying enough milk it maybe a good idea to top them up but it's not always the best solution.
